I never said Space Horse was the best.  But it was definitely the best attempt at a clone with netplay.  The point I was trying to make is that there is no sense in making a new MULE clone if it isn't going to have netplay.  As you yourself said, if you're going to play against 3 bots you will just play the original game in an emulator.  And I concur.  All you will be doing with Alpha Colony is .. guess what?  Playing with 3 bots.

I thought of Planet MULE when I saw this post. Smiley

Stella is an Atari 2600 emulator. You'll need to use an Atari 8-Bit (e.g. Atari 800) emulator for this one.  Grin

If anyone cares to check this out someone made a fun risk-like game called MULE Wars a few years ago as an entry in a game programming contest.

Actually, I've been playing MULE for almost 30 years and indeed been able to come back after losing a plot many times.  It happens plenty in the original game, and I don't believe it should be removed.  I agree with Chuckie Chuck- if someone quits or tries to ruin the game because of it, just don't play with them again.  I did take a cheap shot at you in this thread, but only because I think you and CBASS need to take your incessant rantings into private at this point.  You can't deny that anyone seeing those posts would probably not want to stick around this community.  It doesn't seem friendly to an outsider.  As for why I don't play Planet MULE online much, it's not only because I don't have time, but when I do, I don't want to enter a game with random people; some of which might be "rankmongers" or unsocial chaps.  I prefer my MULE games to be an enjoyable and memorable experience.

If there is anything that is going to scare people away, it's the immature ranting that goes on between CBASS and DM17.

There is already a "different style" of MULE thats been around for many years. It's called Space Horse. The online multiplayer is a bit glitchy but it's an awesome remake.

I agree with the above post.  I'll also mention again that there is no online multiplayer planned for Alpha Colony unless it reaches the $300,000, which I believe to be extremely unlikely to ever happen, and so I'm not going to take my chances kickstarting a single player game of MULE which I can just play on an emulator.  However, if Alpha Colony does ever reach that goal and multiplayer is added and tested to be working well, I'd definitely consider purchasing it at that time.

From the reverse engineering of the original game of MULE: http://bringerp.free.fr/RE/Mule/mule_document_en2.html

It is working as the original game did. But before we had the reverse engineering, probably not many MULE players out there knew how to do it.

By the way, the land selling strategy is very risky in Planet MULE.  There is a high chance of getting the null point exception error if you put one of your plots up for sale, in which case you won't be able to continue playing -- and it will count as an abandon.   Don't know if anyone else has, but I messaged Peter and confirmed this is a known bug.
