I for one would love to see a Planet M.U.L.E. app for the iPad.  Maybe if we can get enough votes it could happen.

But I'd rather have it first on Nintendo DS since I already own one and don't know when I buy an iPad if I ever buy one...

mule should be available on every single device possible! Smiley   i miss the game but i got burnt out on it and couldn't keep up with the ranking model awarding playing numerous games rather than win percentages

This would be an ideal app for the new Game Center and if the transition was quick, it would likely emerge as a top 10 GameCenter pick. This is a golden opportunity.

Just a shot in the dark but being a Java game is not working in its favor. You see Apple has locked out "un-taxed" developers by not supporting their existing languages. Instead they reinvented the wheel...

Re-inventing the wheel I say? Any relation to the PlanetMule guys? Probably yes, but isn't poetic justice a biatch?

I agree.  This would be a great way for multiple people in the same place to play together.  I've looked, and it seems like you can't have more that one person play on the same machine, is that right?

Should not be hard to port, just minor mods to the version already made for Mac to make it an Iphone/Ipad App right?

Actually since its written in java, it would have to be re-done. iPhone OS does not support java. Maybe Android and the Android tablets would be a better port. Android is all java, but it would take significant changes still.

I think this would be ideal for Android upcoming "iPads".

Just change the game to be mouse-clicked for where you want your dude to go and it should work fine with minimal changes.  I could do the port if you like (yes, I'm a developer in real life).  I imagine the game will run on android right now without any changes, although it wouldn't play right with touchscreen since it relies on cursor-controls.

My 2 cents.  And yes, I think its a GREAT idea.

Actually, it looks like you can just have a control pad at the bottom of the screen for android and then you'd be good to go without changes, I think.  I'll let you know if/when I get an aPad later this year!

It might be nice if you could setup your computer to host and then play on a separate computer on the same network.  I know that used to be a problem and I assume it still is?

I know I have played on my 2 computers on the same local network.  I haven't played like that lately, but I was 99% sure you just have to choose local play (on the log in screen), then host a game, and on the other computer select to connect to an IP and enter the ip of the computer hosting the game (probably something like 192.168.1.XXX)...  I can try it again if you like and let you know for sure.

Just tried it and above is mostly correct, here are the exact steps:

Computer 1
- start mule of computer 1
- select Play Local (then yes to skip login)
- select New Game

Computer 2
- start mule of computer 1
- select Play Local (then yes to skip login)
- select Join Address
- enter either name of computer 1 or the local ip address (i.e. 192.168.1.100)
This last step will probably be the sticking part :-)  but it does work if you can see your computer on the network

Technically speaking an HTML5 client would be most widely compatible, for iOS/Android and Windows/Mac/Linux PC.
For instance they made an HTML5 port of Angry Birds... quite where the technology is at I couldn't say but MULE is obviously not very demanding graphically!

This would require a complete new version though; it is a major job!
