The only help I can give is the usual recipe: Close any other programs running in the background which might use your sound system and try to download the latest drivers for your sound card.

The sound system in Planet Mule uses OpenAL, but all the needed library files are boundled with the application. Still it's possible it will help if you download and install OpenAL manually.
