Why can't we change our characters? It's cosmetic only, with no effect on gameplay. And if gameplay effects were introduced, you definitely would need to allow everyone to re-select their characters anyway or it wouldn't be fair.
When I created my account I hadn't even played the game, I had absolutely no idea what the characters look like in-game. So I chose the safe option, human. But now I realize that it's also the boring option, and want to select better, now that I'm more informed.

of course its possible to allow changing the characters.
if more people request it, we can look into a quick fix.
a more elaborate fix would include remembering what species you played at what time/games for historic reasons.

Yes I was surprised there weren't any existing complaints. Would it be laborious to manually change my character for now?

I agree. I think changing characters should be an option. Especially if race-specific powers come into play in future editions of this game.

I want to change my character too. Though I like my gollumer, I'd really like to play as something else for a while. Also, why not make Mechtron playable?

Same here, even when I'll continue using the flapper. If possible, try to get some free time to add a custom specie slot.
By the way, thanks for your support on the custom specie thread. =^?_?^=
