Abolutely Populous is worth a remake. But do it right.

The IBM populous stank.
The Amiga one was wonderful.

But I can't find the Amiga Populous (nor the Amiga Killing Game Show) anywhere to run in an emulator -- the copy protection on those must have just been too good.

(In fairness, I did see deprotected KGS's, but they didn't get the clock-rate right -- the game got faster and faster each level, and was unwinnable by level 5 iirc.)

It wasn't just the sound. The controls in the Amiga version were better.

Yeah, Master of Magic !!! If it was a little better balanced, it would be one of the greatest Civ-like games! Cheesy

Populous has lived long and still prospers at http://popre.net/

If you have never played Populous 3 for the PC, you've been missing out.

What a silly question, there is only M.U.L.E.

Like Jesus it will be resurrected and we will all accent to heaven. Where 42 newbs will give you each all the rank and perfect colonies you could wish for... they will praise your name and the Wampus will even serve you cold beer.

Ah I can almost see it now tooo!

 Cheesy

PS You guys rock.

for master of magic there already exists something like a remake. check out "age of wonders", it looks different but the game mechanics are very similar.

There is a somewhat updated version of Lords of Conquest at http://members.cox.net/rgettman/ . It's reasonably faithful.

I'd like to see a remake of Star Raiders. There are a lot of space combat games, but Star Raiders was a very nice balance of action and strategy without a lot of fluff.

Rescue on Fractalus would be nice too.
