Can host a game, but not join one

This board has given some good advice. I have opened my port and added "127.0.0.1 localhost" to my hosts log and can host a game well. But when I try to join a game someone else is hosting, the screen just says "Connecting..." and the IP address for a while. I've only waited a couple of minutes each time and then gave up. Should I keep trying, or is this a problem? And if so, how can it be solved?

A number of people seem to be having issues hosting games (myself included) so it may not be you that is having a problem but the other person.

Unfortunately the FAQ section has not been of much help with this problem as most of those who have this issue have followed the instructions to the best of their ability and still can not host a game
