If I play locally, I join in slot A and add AI for the next three slots (playing training) and it jut sits there.  What do I need to do to start the game?

Also, can I play with three AIs in tournament mode in local play? I sure hope so!

I have also been unable to join or get anyone to join a game.  Maybe I just need to be more patient?

Edit to say:
I just tried the whole Port Forwarding FAQ thing and felt like I was tumbling down a rabbit hole.  I'm pretty computer savvy, but it seemed like a ton of steps that may or may not screw up my internet connection.  I'm just some shmo in his basement with a wireless router, no firewalls or anything/  Shouldn't I be able to just play?

To start a game in training mode you have to press J to join yourself. Then press A to add as many computer players as you like. Then you need to press Spacebar to get ready and the game will start.

Tournament mode can only be played with 2 or more human players. There is no difference between training and tournament gameplay wise.

To play online you always need to add an exception in your firewall for the program "mule.exe" or add an exception for port 6260. On windows a dialog will appear when you start the game and ask if you want to allow it through your firewall.

To host a game you must do the port forwarding if you have a router. If you try to join a game where the host has not done the port forward it will not work.
