Here is what I do in games.

Try to have a enormeous group (a "blob") of plots producing smithore.  I don't care if the price get as low as 40. So I may even boicott attemps to raise the price.  My target is mass production.

I use these plots you take on random areas of the map ( plot auctions, errors, etc..) to generate energy.  I always buy energy, and never sells. Energy is cheap,  10 units  is 100$, but can be the difference from production to no production.

I plan what plots I will take, to make my blob of plots as big as possible. I strategize and try to calculate what plots other players can take to me. So often I take plots that will make the general area of my blob much less interesting to other people. I don't care if these plots are good of bad, since economy of scale will make for it.

Of course, I try to buy all plots on sale.

A plot value, is 500.  All plots with a price less than 500 is like a money gift.  Most plots with a price of 700 have fair price.  800 to 1000 can be a plot overrated, but can be interesting if the plot could be too beneficial to other player, or very beneficial to yourself. A price >1000 is often a bad idea, but can be interesting if I have more than 6000$.  I can even try to pay 1000, and let other player pay 1200.  That will hurt the other player enough to be a adventage.

I try to play friendly in early turns, and more agresive on the latest turns. I try to stay friendly after endgame, since the odds to play with the same people is big.

I know what I want to pay, before a auction start, and try to avoid paying more, to stop getting caugh in a price war. I often avoid paying less, to play ilogically.  Playing poorly helps "stay under the radar" of other people. The game, and other players, can be beneficial for players that "look down on the winning table".

I avoid risky tactics and strategys, like buing in packs (all the smithore of other players and the store), or making a cristite empire, because these strategies are hard to do well, and can be as beneficial as self-destructive. I will probably always lose against people that use these strategies, and know what is doing.

If smithore > 45 then sell.
If cristite  > 100 then sell.
If energy <  24 then buy.
If food > 100 then sell all (even my own :-)
If plot < 500 then buy.

I break my own rules, wen doing soo looks like fun, or to learn other ideas or strategies, or to help some player :-)

I call my namestyle:  "The ability to play logically+illogically" in honor the game manual :-)

I lose almost all games, but I have lots of fun doing so, probably I can win more games dropping the ilogicall part of my playstyle, but thats the more fun part to me :-)

Everyone listen to this guy and do what he says! Ignore the fact that a plot can potentially generate profits in the neighborhood of $10k, let suckers like me buy them for $1,200-1,500. Wink

heh! heh! really? for a wide-open plains plot with no crystite, what's that worth to you?

to me, that's like - probably in the neighborhood of 700, i'd probably just outfit it with smithore (or maybe energy) so i'm not getting a lot of profit from a junk plot like that

Apparently, only Gabriel and myself get the concept of scaling.  I'm happy if everyone follow's Tei's advice. Smiley

If that plot gets me to a nice & high multiple of 3 - 12 perhaps - then that plot is worth a lot to me when I go full Crystite in the end game.
