Can someone please explain this new "sector-map"?  I get that it's some sort of map of the colonies on Irata, I'm guessing?  But what does it mean?  Why does it exist?

Hi Bertoid,

as you might have guessed, the sector map is the visualisation of the total played tournament games.

The theory is that training games suppose to happen on a training site (maybe simulation like in WingCommander Wink ), where the tournament games happen on the surface of the planet Irata.

Irata is supposed to be a big planet and therefore divided into sectors, each sector consisting of 100x100 colonies. Right now, the alpha sector is opened for colonization.

(We know that the river is unrealisticly flowing always from north to south in each colony, but we were also experimenting with a more flexible map, which had "waterspots", that were placed randomly on the map of each colony).

What we can do with the colored dots is some information like in a metagame, that isn't of any real importance, for example the distribution of successfull colonies won by which species.

The more important info is likely to be the numbers below, showing some statistical data for the dots in numbers.

It also gives us the chance to open another sector if the first one is fully colonized and then compare the statistics of each sector... maybe have sector related winners with medals...

If anyone is having more ideas for what else the sector map could be used, here is your chance  Smiley

The idea of competing races is for some utter politically incorrect reason appealing to me.  Having some kind of bonus or prize for the race that controls a sector is pretty cool.
