HI All-

Wow. Ive played 5 games on here and its been a rough start. Game 1 I had 2 of the 3 players constantly harrassing me to try and prove that I was an expert player starting a new account. Not fun if you are a Noob to get attacked while walking in the door. I even explained that I had played on an emulator, so I did know some of the basics. Still "he doesnt look like a noob" Ok. Ive played 5 games now and come in 5th or booted all of them, when will people get it. Im not a liar? Ive also been attacked for other noob questions and issues. I thought I bought first round, didnt, and wanted to know if I could quit or take a break. You'd think I had insulted people personally to get the vulgarity and anger thrown my way. I have 2 kids who introduced me to MULE on the emulator, I cant even allow them in the game because so many of you are so vulgar to people you just meet.

But my 60 seconds of b#tching is up. The main reason to search down a place to post was to find out / suggest a fix - for a bug. When I try to type. I cant. No cursor in the bar. but. If I go into settings. Then click OK, then click on the text box. Then go again into settings. then click OK, then I am able to type in the text box. Im hoping someone can tell me a quicker way. People get really mad at me for not talking enough, or fast enough, despite telling them that it is a long stupid process just for me to type during the game. If there isnt a fix for this yet, please address it.

Sorry, not sure why people act the way they do toward new players.  I would like more players which means new players, so I welcome them.

Not sure of the bug you are experiencing. What operating system are you using?

Also, are you using the Alt key?  I know in Windows 10 Alt locks the client up.  I remapped Alt to full screen under settings (add Alt as secondary key for Fullscreen.) Now if I accidentally hit Alt, it will just resize my game screen instead of locking up the client.

Sorry you encountered that dude, it is a paranoid bunch here.  There is a legit touch point here with regulars worried about veterans starting new accounts to pose as noobs, but it is easy enough to verify and new players should not be accosted as you have.  90% of players are OK to play with and will help new players, 10% get touchy if what you do potentially affects their chance at victory.  Four things to bear in mind in this crowd:

1) The game takes 90 minutes to play.  If you don't have time, don't play.
2) Don't quit if it can be avoided.  AI's change the game significantly and you can't add players mid-game.  Also, many players have waited an hour+ to be in a game without AI.
3) Always hit 'Space' at summary and production.  Keeps the game going.
4) If you need a break to pee or get a drink, ask in advance if this is OK.  Also, when returning, ask if everyone is ready so people don't miss turns.

Lastly, ask questions.  Games go smoother with knowledgeable players and there is a fair bit of metadata  to learn.  Have fun!

Also keep in mind it's an eclectic bunch. We have sheep herders from Kazakhstan, Lithuanian prostitutes, people with donkey fetishes from East Texas, and everything else in between. Normally folks are quite cordial. Things can turn nasty though when the Ovaltine withdrawal hits.

You see, many here have raging addictions to the famous malted beverage. At first it was only a scoop or two to help them get through a mule double header. Now some sadly inject the stuff on an hourly basis. With this abuse comes all the violent mood swings associated with abuse of more typical narcotics.

KOM gave some helpful advice but he forgot one: always massively overpay for land as if you are an Asian bureaucrat trying to launder your money into North American real estate. If you pay fair value, many will complain from the sale to the end of the game. It's better to spare yourself their ire and simply go bankrupt no matter what the turn or what the value of the property holds for you.

Finally, although this doesn't need to be said for most. Play fully clothed, so that you don't become so aroused by tite assays that you lose focus on the game at hand.

When NJ says he wants to penetrate your market share in ore, he is speaking in euphemism.

That is all friend. Enjoy!
