Note: This is the report (and attachment) of a second game attempt.  However I do believe it was in the same location...  before picking land on the fourth round (not 100% sure which round.)  At this point, I'd say it's not possible to play v0.95.0.0

java.lang.NullPointerException

Note: System specs have changed (upgraded Java) since the first game earlier today...

  • Windows 8.1
  • Firefox 29.0.1

Note: This is the report (and attachment) of a third game attempt.  It was in the same location...  before picking land, this time on the third round.  This time I ran the game from IE as the "Web Start version"

Note: This is the report (and attachment) of a fourth game attempt.  It was in the same location...  before picking land, this time on the third round.  This time I ran the game from a different system (see below) in IE as an embedded applet.

java.lang.NullPointerException

Note: This time on a different computer system...

System Info:

  • Intel Pentium D CPU @ 2.8 GHz (2 Core / No HyperThreading) w 4 GB RAM
  • Windows 7 Ultimate 64 Bit OS
  • Microsoft Internet Exploder cVer 11.0.9600.17041 / uVer 11.0.7 (KB2929437)

Note: This is the report (and attachment) of a fifth game attempt (technically about the eighth, but some I didn't submit logs for because the "unit test" had the same parameters.)  It was in the same location...  before picking land, this time on the fourth round.  This time I ran the game from the same system as earlier today (see below) again in IE as an embedded applet...  The difference this time was that I chose Human instead of an Elowan (which I've used for all previous tests.)  This will probably be the last time I try to play the game until I hear a reply from a dev (or at least another user who has a recommendation on how to avoid it from crashing.)

Thanks for the report.

I think this is now fixed in newer version 0.95.0.1.

Bugs 0.95.0.2 - DeSynchronized causing Infinite Loop - During "Journaling"...

Note:  I wasn't fast enough when the error occurred to capture a screenshot of the initial problem; however, it occurred again (see the next post... The following "DeSynchronization" errors appeared first (both above & here, ref the [Error__01__DeSynchronized.jpg] pic in the [log.2014-05-27.19h-14m-32s.zip] file attached to the "next" post.)

It looks like it began here:

WARNING rollback: Mismatch: [ClaimPlotEvent] vs. [<none>] at 33073
      turborilla.mule2.journal.GameJournal.equals:112]
SEVERE rollback: ROLLBACK FAILED at 33073

But what's really dangerous is that the game will get stuck in an infinite loop while "logging"...  theoretically, the log could grow infinitely / until corruption...

SEVERE Journaled phases don't match: GOODS_AUCTION vs. COLLECTION at 41744
      [turborilla.mule2.journal.GameJournal.equals:98]
SEVERE Assertion failed in journal
      [turborilla.mule2.control.GameRunner.desyncError:605]

It's why I zipped the file this time (>12MB uncompressed.)

@John256 || @SomeDev >> Should I have started a new "thread"?...  I decided not to, since I could not verify that the original problem had been fixed.  Also, is this the correct place to post errors?...  (If so, perhaps rename the thread from Bugs 0.90.1  >>to>>  All Beta Bugs)

System Info:

  • Intel i7-4900MQ CPU @ 2.8 GHz (4 Core / 8 Threads) w 32 GB RAM
  • Windows 8.1
  • Firefox 29.0.1
  • Java Version 7 Update 55

Bugs 0.95.0.2 - DeSynchronized - Land Auctions & Item Auctions Broken...

The following "DeSynchronization" errors appeared first (both above & here):
      Error__01__DeSynchronized.jpg
... not sure how I became DeSynchronized, since it was just me & 4 computer players.

After that, there was a land auction, where you could hear the auction occurring, but you couldn't see it:
      Error__02__CouldHearAuction_ScreenTempFrozen.jpg

The game continued this time (unlike the previous post) however, none of the auctions worked, even though the screen "caught up" for there were no Buy/Sell lines...  you could move the ppl, but they'd just pass each other.  Also, the store didn't work as it should.

That desync bug sounds similar to one that has been around a long time although I cannot be certain it is the same one.

Will a Dev respond to this?

I am a (the) developer - as I say desync bugs related to auctions are something we've heard of before. Take a look here if you're curious - http://www.planetmule.com/forum/?board=29.0

And yes 0.95.0.2 simply replaces 0.95.0.1, there was an issue uploading the .01 version but no changes to the code between .01 and .02.

Excellent bug reports by the way.
