Hello all...
I too love M.U.L.E. I had considered remaking it several times. I finally went full out on game development and had to choose a first project. A remake of M.U.L.E. was floating around in the back of my mind. I am glad I did not go that route because, a couple months after I began on my project
M.U.L.E. Returns and
Alpha Colony were both launched. I barely dodged that bullet...
I was thinking of M.U.L.E. when I suddenly thought
"Where do the colony ships come from?", and
"Where do the pirates come from?". I immediately thought that
"This is what I want to do!"I had already made two versions of a Boardgame design with the working title Starways that was hex based and dynamic. I thought why not take a lot of its ideas and merge them with the M.U.L.E. economic system???
I got to work on it. It had some really ugly graphics... I am no artist.
I approached some art contacts I know and soon they started funneling me iterations of art to replace what I have.
We are by no means done... We have a long ways to go.
We do however, have a kickstarter launched and if you are interested we could really use your support. I guarantee we will be supporting the relaunch of Alpha Colony, as well as M.U.L.E. returns.
In the kickstarter we have playable Alpha builds available as free downloads for Windows and Mac OS X.
If the kickstarter is funded I plan to get a Unity 4 license. At that point I'll be able to release it for Linux as well.
If you made it this far in my post and are interested in checking it out please visit...
http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/314464570/wormhole-ventures-inspired-by-starways-and-muleI do have some links and images in the kickstarter to Planet M.U.L.E. which were used with permission. So, it may drive some more people here to be new players as well. My wife and I both play it and enjoy it. I haven't been able to get my kids into it as much as I'd like.
Thanks for your time...
