Ohhh my goodness.

I remembered mule for some reason this morning, i think i was searching for an app for the ipad, was secretly hoping that someone had remade this classic.  Then I stumble upon this site and all of you fellow pioneers and I can play with real people and and and...

Okay jackson.  Easy.

It has been decades since i head that iconic song... I watched  the youtube tutorial with an incredible sense of nostalgia. My commodore 64 is long gone, but i see that with the developers of is fine port and all of you pioneers playing together... Im going to miss quite a bit of work.. Smiley

I look forward to many fun matches.  Time to whack the wampus!

My very best,
Jackson

Welcome, hope you enjoy it.  I still play the original sometimes, although, not able to get a group together to play in one room, so it's against the AI, whether on the real 64 or via WinVice Emulator.  I love doing the real matches with real people on here, it's great.  Gotten to the point that playing the old game against the AI isn't as fun as it used to be, but there are days when I just gotta play old school original c64. Chuckie

Thanks for responding.

If I could get another c64 and find the game, i'm sure i'd play...

Going to start up the game and try the tutorial game now.  God I can't wait.  This game and the Ultima series were my favorites.

BTW The music at the logon screen is fantastic, anyone know who redid it?

I've got a C64, but no games 'cause the disk drive is missing the power cord (it's a 3rd party brand, not standard). Even if I did have the games, I couldn't play them.

Real pity.

Jackson, google Commodore 64 Emulators, I recommend Vice (also known as WinVice) but it is multi platform, freeware, feature loaded, with the right cabling and addition of OpenCBM (CBM4WIN) you can even talk to real commodore hardware including disk drives and printers.  Another top notch version, is CCS64, although it doesn't do the real peripheral interface and some features are disabled in the free lite version.

These emulators can run real Commodore Software.

You can also google Commodore 64 Downloads, and a host of sites with images of real C64 disk will come up.  You can download both NTSC (Western Hemisphere) and PAL (Eastern Hemisphere except for Japan) disk images of almost any game you've ever played on the Commodore 64.  It's almost as good as the real thing.

WinVice will let you play both standards, just requires a switch in the emulation mode in one of the option menus to run NTSC or PAL software.  I have put a lot of the NTSC software on real floppy disk via OpenCBM and a special transfer cable hooked to a real Commodore 1571 disk drive and played them on my real 64.

Anyways, happy muling, and check out the emulators, and relive some other old favorites!

(Personal favorite game disk image sites : www.gb64.com and www.c64.com)  Between these two, there is almost nothing you can't find, and they even put some software from people that still write for the real machine, oh yes, the c64 world is still very alive!)

@gmanster

You know, i actually may have my disk drive cable downstairs somewhere...  I wonder if you could find one on google..

@chuckie
Wow, tg c64 still lives and breathes.  It was something that made my young life that much better.  And thank you very much for the links.  I will check them out.

Btw, i did play my first game of mule yesterday.  It took about as long as the old games on the commodore.  Which leads me to another question...

Just how much outside play did i eshew in the house with a row of chips ahoy and glasses of milk on front of my commodore?

My best

I can tell you, I got my first Vic20 when I was 3, the year the 64 came out, I played lots of slither, tanks vs. ufo, rocket command, killer comet, and vic 21 blackjack.

Learned to write very basic programs consisting of print statements, goto statements, input/read statements.

Got my first 64 when I was 7, got probably over 50 games from a friend, still have all those disk, 90% still load up, and a few that were dead, have been revived with my magical little parallel to iec xa/xm1541 cable.

Still collecting new software when I have the time and space to pull out the machine, and always trying new stuff in the emulator, it's easy to copy to the real thing when I find something I like online.

For instance, a game I originally had for the Apple II when I was 8, Mickey's Space Adventure, I have it on my C64, it's a 4 disk set, big game, lots of disk flipping, but enjoyable.

Have imported some of my originals into the emulator too, great fun.

Hey gmanster, what brand is your off brand floppy drive?

I'm familiar with a few, like MSD super drive, FSD, and the IndusGT (I have this one, it's SWEET, if it was double sided like a 1571, it'd be perfect.  I had the MSD and FSD for a while, but mistakingly threw them away, wish I hadn't now.  Anyways, I can recommend potential adaptations for power if I know what you have.

DM, the issue is he has a drive that uses a none standard DC adapter external Power Supply, not the normal old 1541 or 1571 with internal P.S.

He didn't name what model the drive is, so I was asking.

I know two of the three drive I named need external power packs, and Commodore's own 1541ii and 1571ii use an odd external p.s. as well.
