Sometimes you wanna play M.U.L.E. in the morning! Gets the brain going. But it's usually dead.
I love that I can count on MulesizeMe to be hosting his last game if i get there early enough, but once 9 AM or so rolls around its DEAD.
I know it won't get busy like a Friday night or anything, but if you want to play but you don't cause you know you'll have to wait all day, respond to this thread!

I can do the same, but only every other week now due to work.
Would be nice if there was a way to allow hosting without actual playing. Setting up your account to host game after game.
I would have no problems setting up my machine to host games durring my downtimes, and especially the week i'm at work.

It's possible, might take some doing to create an automated macro, but you can host and let 4 other players play. I may try to do that.

I tried that last night as i was eating. But after game is finished whos going to set up the next game?? you would have to set your alarm evey 90mins to re prep a game for everyone....impossible mission.
PS.I host everynight between the hrs of 8:00-13:00 utc (irata time), For those who dont know that. Sleepwalkers welcome.

@Chuck: That's a good idea about a macro to open games, wish I knew how do that... I guess there would have to be some way the code have to be told to end it. It would have to be a timer I guess, right? It could leave time for a couple breaks, you might gave to wait 10 minutes for the game to close after it ends or something. I have no idea how complicated or time consuming that would be for someone to do, but it would be cool.
Ok, so as for people that are interested in games from, lets say 8AM - 12PM EST give or take a couple hours: 1. Chauncey 2. (sometimes) Null [*can host] 3. ? 4. ?
Anyone else?
I see the same people lurking for many hours oftentimes. I wonder if others are in the same boat where they just check in once in a while, see nothing and go back to what they were doing. Like sometimes there will be maybe 3 other known trustworthy players and some unknown quantities. One might assume there is only a fraction of the people that are logged in really there, ipso facto, not enough trusted players to bother.
(P.S. yes, this only pertains to weekdays Mon-Fri)

Timer based could be an issue if it starts counting from game creation, and the game doesn't actually start for a half hour, then the disconnect could happen 20 minutes before the end of the game, somehow the macro would need to be able to recognize the end of game cue (maybe use the scripting that ciscoheat used to make his crystite tracker) - It would be able to see the end of game marker in the java log at the end of round 12 and know to close and restart.

I've been working on a few utilities for mule, one of them is a hosting program that will start and restart on game completion.
Should be able to finish it this week.
I can then set a semi-permanent hosting bot.

That's very interesting. We should actually make it possible to set up dedicated servers, but don't bet on it coming any time soon, so please continue with your script and let me know if you need anything. With Mule 2 on the horizon it's not a high priority. Mule 2 will be dedicated server only so that solves the hosting problems and port forwarding crap.

Thanks Peter, the auto hosting script is done, I have been testing it for about a week now.
The hosting account mule4u is running the interactive script. If you get a free moment check out one of mule4u's chat log to get an idea on how it works.
I am trying to get it to work on a few virtual machines so I can host several games at once, but am having a problem with the video card initialization error on start on the virtual hosts.
Glad to here that hosting and firewall ports will be less of an issue with mule 2.
Thanks for the great game,
