I live in Earth / Europe / North-Eastern
Poland
/ Masurian Lake District / Pisz
Im '1979 male. My first Mule was at Atari 65XE. Me, my brother and sister were played together via joys. Few years ago we played at atari emulator sticked together to one keyboard.
I am newbie here at Planet Mule, but I have a few victories here with hi-ranks, but trust me - I am not veteran smurf (like some suspect).
So Mule in!

Hi Chris and welcome to Planet Mule! Just a curious question: could you play 3 or 4 player game on 65XE? If yes, how? I thought 65XE had only 2 joystick ports and that there is no keyboard playing option in Atari Mule but I hope I'm wrong in either of my assumptions.

I remember some atari games alowed you to use the same joystick for multiple players. Could be the same?

The first and maybe second generation of Atari 400/800 had 4 joystick ports, later versions and the 65xe series did in fact have only two even though they could run nearly all the same software. As for if Atari MULE, I have no idea if it had keyboard support for player 3 and 4 like the C64 version did. Atari had several 4 player games that would not function with all features on the 2 port systems, although they would load and you could use them in a limited fashion. A friend of mine had an 800XL (Third Generation 800 with 2 ports) and I had a 400 (First Gen, Chicklet KeyBoard, 4 Ports), he had one cart that couldn't be fully enjoyed on his system (basketball or football or something, years ago) but we could play it with full function on my 400.

So you have seed my doubts, Piete. Im not really sure if we 3 were played at the sime time or 2+2Ais and 3rd of us was waiting and watching a turn. It was long time ago. But i really remember three of us gathered around Atari and there was real fun.
