You need to configure your router as well.  This is documents in the F.A.Q. on the website, but I can give some pointers if I know more about your equipment (what kind of router you have)

I have noticed that AVG can give you problems as well as Norton. I didn't even know I had AVG on my computer until I had to uninstall it for another game. You might want to check if you have any other kinds of virus protections or firewalls.

If AVG is not paid, they will hose your pc.  Worst Antivirus software on the planet.  IMO  Best is Norton if you know how to configure it.

I've done a bit of research on freebees, and the best by far has proven to be Avast Anti-Virus Free Edition.  I've tested several.  For free Avast works very well.  It's lower memory usage than most, catches most bugs, and I couple it up with Malwarebytes Anti-Malware Free Version, and between the two, I catch everything Norton Catchs and more (was using McAfee Deluxe before, and you might as well be using AVG Free Edition or a Spam AV if you are using McAfee, it doesn't stop anything except other, better, anti virus programs.)

I use nothing but Spybot S&D, though I'm pretty careful about what I download also.  I use online scanners for downloads after I download them which usually works well, so long as you dont open the files prior.  I have having 20 things running in the background.  Teatimer from SB S&D is really the only thing I keep running in the background other than windows firewall.  This usually gives me full system resources to run what I need without loosing much to background proggies.

With this, the only thing I ever had to do to serve was open the ports in my router.

Try turning off everything, set the ports on your router and see if that helps.  if it works, then you can narrow down where the problem is comming from.

I do not use Norton fire wall, so I can't detect your problem as well as the getting the port 6260. I am well experienced with Avg since the last two years; it's the world leading anti virus as well as I know.

I think the problem is in that I use a system with a wifi router connected to a cable modem. I was once able to forward a port through it, thought that was  years ago, and I can't remember how I did it. All I remember is that it was a HUGE headache.

I'll tell you, the top 5 premium Anti-Virus programs out there all claim to be the world leading AV, but if you actually research the comparative reviews, they all have weak points in one area or another.

AVG is only worth while if you actually pay, and it's almost as severe on memory as McAfee, which is horrid.  Norton competes well with AVG.

At this point, if you really do your homework though, there is no reason to pay for an Anti-Virus when you can get very good protection for free, and also with the least use of system resources and tied up memory.

For what it is worth I have had good luck with malwarebytes. It is free and they updated it frequently.

To FireWalk: If you read farther up, you'll see I already mentioned Malwarebytes as one that I reccommend (but the free doesn't do real time, and the real time on the pay version isn't very good, therefore, I use Avast Free for the realtime protection with regular scans with malwarebytes to catch what it missed)

Nothing catches everything, but with these two, you have an nearly unbeatable mix.

I missed that part. Maybe I will have to try out Avast.
