I am new to Planet MULE. I am not new to MULE. Like most people on here I suspect, I have played it hundreds of times back on my Atart 800 years ago. It is very difficult to get anyone to join my games despite the presence of 5-8 people languishing on the wait list. It seems if you havent been here a while no one trusts you......

So for introductions... I am 42 yrs old. I am a decent mule player, no doubt not the best. I dont quit games. Yes , my profile has 1 abandon. My friend and I joined together, played 1 2 player game with 2 AIs to check it out and quit after a few turns.

I am a bit taken aback by the MULE xenophobia honestly. So if you see ZOGMrBill on the board, join my game. I wont quit and I'll give you a decent game. Thanks.

Hi ZogMrBill and welcome to Planet Mule!

I'm now breaking a more than a month's silence at this forum (but not yet the absence in the lobby), since I have a small break from my twin daughters that were born one month and a half ago and together with my 1,75-years old son they keep me busy enough not to even dream of playing a Planet Mule game yet.

So if and when I get the chance to finally play, I am bound to choose high-ranked or otherwise familiar players (if they still accept me since my rank has dropped due to my absence) to make sure that the game will be competitive enough. I'm sorry, it is not xenophobia, it is the 1,5 hours that I'm investing and I don't want to risk it by some unknown guy abandoning during round 4-10 and ruining the game.

But since you publicly came forward and promised not to quit, I would gladly play with you, too. I get to read here that there is some division happening among the players due to this "xenophobia" or "pickiness" but the thing is that some of us don't want to waste 1 hour or more because of quitting. And trust me, this is learned by the hard way by most of us. One year ago the community was smaller you had to risk and get to know other players to get a 4-player game and only through trial and error you would get to know the people you would want to play with again. And since nowadays (at least a couple of months back) we "Planet Mule veterans" already know enough people we don't have to err anymore.

Anyway, hope that you like it here. I would... Wink

I agree 100%. Not to mention the troublemakers like (Sockmonkey, Akire1/Simpla the worst) who pop in with fresh new profiles to mess up the works. Or guys like WhoosThis that pose as a new player who needs help so you help them out and they turn around and stab you in the back! Ragman knows what i mean. Haha. Anyway i wont play new guys again. Sorry to the new guys who are legit but it just has to be that way!

You have described a lot of juvenile behavior. As I said before. I am 42 yrs old. I don't quit games or act immaturely. I am used to being taken at my word.

I have also experienced the same problems described by Piete and Mt-Wampus.
Along with certain play styles/tactics and sensitivity by some of anything said in chat I have become extremely picky about who I play with. I admit this trend by our veteran players is bad for our community.
But with the total lack of policing by our PM hosts and no real verification of new players when they sign up we are left with no other options.  I know PM is free and it takes time and money to provide these kind of tools to the community, but surely somethings can be added with minimal time and cost.
I fear this free version of planetmule may disappear one day soon  and we will be left with no MULE.

Dont worry about it and be thick skinned, I actually have only played 9 games and am ranked about 1000. The only person who wouldnt let me join was Mt Wampus even after reasoning with him. However that said its not a big deal just play and people will get top know you.

shrimper and mainstream were the guys who gave me early games

Yeah, MULE shouldn't be unfriendly, especially to new players. In my opinion, MULE is the kind of game where you can relax, have a drink and chat with old friends (or new friends).

When I play MULE I expect.
1) No lying about who you are/skill level
2) No harsh language/insults (I'm looking at you WhoosThis)
3) No abandoning, especially if you're the host (unless it is a real emergency)

I will normally play with new players, but when it become obvious that they aren't (which is usually pretty quickly), I feel insulted by their deception. Resorting to trickery like this in order to win is rather pathetic. Some people need to reevaluate their priorities.
