I personally found out about planet mule when I walked into a buddies work (UWK) and it was on the screen.  I was amazed.  I asked him about if it was something he was working on or just something he found, cause he writes programs like that when he isn't scripting professionally, and he told me it was an online version in development, but very well done and close to the original.  He has only played online once, and lost connection, but seemed to enjoy playing AI solo more.  (You can tell by looking at his stats, he just doesn't have time for a full game against other players probably, but I'm glad to have caught him playing it)

So, how did you get introduced to the world of Planet M.U.L.E.?

I was surfing reddit.com and in some random c64 retro thread someone mentioned Planet Mule. Since Mule was one of my favorite games from my youth i came right over and have been here ever since.

I found out about it when I was on spore, In fact. I also found out about it on roblox, where a song called M.U.L.E. was able to be played. I looked it up on you-tube and found out it was an actual GAME, not a song from spore. When I looked it up on Wikipedia, I was shocked that it was an incredible game ahead of it's time.

I also recognized the song on SPORE which led me do a search for it.  Amaizingly, I seen that a new online version was made and here I am.

Well, it's a short but long story, it was something like this:

Playing the old Archon tape in the Emu I kept reading at the Ads during the loading time. You know, when you had to sit for 5 minutes listening to that hypnotic music and waiting for the game to load. And so I thought, "hey, now that we had unlimited access to ROMs and you can't get the C64 tapes at the Gipsies' market anymore, why not to try that M.U.L.E. thing?".

So, I got the ROM, played it for a while (easy to learn) and claimed that it was indeed a good game for those old times. Then, I kept searching for more info about the game: developers, programmers, reviews, game covers... And several links about online communities who kept playing the game appeared.

I made a quick checking and this one was the version I chose. Possibly because it required less than the others. And that's the story more or less. Just by accident or the 'randomness' of the universe.

Haha, I'm so glad I have d64 images of all my fav commodore games.  I had all my stuff on cassettes on the vic20.  When we got the c64 with a disk drive, we actually copied the tapes to disk so we wouldn't have to wait anymore, still slow, but not nearly as bad.

and yeah, planet mule beats all other mule clones, probably because it was actually endorsed by family that was involved in creation of the original. Smiley
