Ranking system

First of all, it made my day when I found this game online.  We use to play at my house 2 or 3 games a week for over 15 years.  But people died or moved away and we have not played in years.  It is great to be playing again.  We use to play for money, not much just enough to keep it interesting.  The first game I played here two people dropped out.  I guess they were worried about what would happen to their ranking.  We had that problem at first.  When somebody would start losing they would play like a fool and screw up the game for the other players.  I fixed that.  I made the rule that the guy in 2nd place got his money back and the guy in last place had to pay double.  Nobody ever gave up again.  The ranking systems needs to punish quitters hard.  It's no fun to play when people quit.
