M.U.L.E. Community / Announcements / Site going down tomorrow!
|
on: August 20, 2013, 15:24
|
Hi folks,
In our continuing effort to prevent issues like we recently experienced last month, the site will be down for maintenance tomorrow from 10:00 AM UTC, for up to 24 hours (through Thursday, 10:00 AM UTC). We don't anticipate needing that long to do what needs to be done (disk partitioning work), but we're reserving that time slot just in case. If everything works out well, we should be back up and running within a few hours of the shutdown time.
Again, thanks for your patience and being great M.U.L.E. fans!

M.U.L.E. Community / Website, Ranks & Forum / Re: Stats swapped with another player?!?
|
on: August 14, 2013, 22:09
|
Please see my latest post in announcements. Those with missing stats will more than likely find their stats have been updated to reflect more or less what they had before the series of issues we've been experiencing these past few months (i'm hoping that's a pleasant surprise for most folks who were affected by the recent issues). If you come across something that doesn't seem right though, please post in this thread (the announcement thread is locked). Also, none of the data collected since yesterday morning was included in today's fix, but we may attempt to add that in the near future.
Some users will find any of the following changed: their chosen race (species), their last login dates, etc. Where that occurs, users can reset their race via their forum profile tools. Data like last login will be refreshed once a new login occurs. For obvious (or not so obvious) reasons some data had to be set to a default value during this fix. Game stats for the most part aren't affected by that though.
If anyone is really interested, some of the tables in the game database had as many as two million plus records in them, so there was much to weed through in trying to come up with the best possible solution. That said, hopefully most if not all will be happier moving forward... please continue to enjoy the game (and the soon to be released new M.U.L.E. 2), and thanks for your continuing support!

Hi folks. Please be advised that at 6:00PM today, New York EST, we will be shutting down Mule to perform updates to the database that we're hoping will restore a lot of the user game data that went missing these past few months during the crashes we experienced. This work includes cleaning up the issue associated with erroneous user game data that a lot of folks experienced since the time of the last crash, which was mid-July.
Though some of you will be assigned a new user number, much of YOUR game data should remain intact. Still, there have been issues with data collected during certain periods and, unfortunately, some of that data was not recoverable. These periods include April 15th to 18th of this year, as well as July 17th through 27th. There may also be a few issues with the most recent games because of the overlap in working on the databases which we farmed yesterday, and the data that's since and currently being collected.
If you would, please halt all forum and game activity during the time we'll be making our updates. Again, that time is today, at 6:00PM New York EST.
Thanks again for your patience and understanding while we work hard to bring you the best in Planet M.U.L.E.

M.U.L.E. Community / Announcements / Re: We're still having issues...
|
on: July 28, 2013, 02:14

Hi folks,
Please note that as per the previous post in this thread, the game database has just been rebuilt using a copy of the database from April. Things should work fine moving forward and we're going to see what we can do about the data for games played between April and now; that could take a few days to sort out if it is possible, so again, please continue to bear with us.

Unfortunately we still have issues to resolve, specifically with user game data--scores and games cannot be reliably matched to users. A number of you have already noted this in the forum and it look like we may have to revert to a copy of the game database that dates back to April. We may be able to save some of the data that's been added to the game database since then, but we can't guaranty that at this point. We'll do our best to do so though.
That said, the game and site be shut down at 10:00PM New York time this evening, and we hope to have everything back up and running by 8:00AM tomorrow morning with at least the game data through April. After that, we'll see what can be done about the data for the games that have been played since April.
Thanks again for your incredible patience and perseverance,
-- the admin folks

Hi everyone, Thanks for your patience and understanding while we've been burning the midnight oil getting Planet M.U.L.E. back up for you. We experienced a severe server issue which you can read more about here: http://www.planetmule.com/please-bear-with-us/. We're hoping we've now caught most of, if not all of the problems created by the crash, but please let us know should you experience any issues. Please also note that per the post referenced above, you may experience data related issues with your gaming history until you log into a game and re-establish the species you were using previously, if need be.

Hi everyone. We've done a little maintenance on the server and need to reboot it. We'll be doing that at midnight tonight, UTC, which is 8:00 PM EST (NY) today. Shouldn't be down longer than it takes to reboot, which is usually under a minute. Thanks for your patience and understanding!

M.U.L.E. Community / Announcements / Full email functionality has been restored to the forum
|
on: May 03, 2013, 13:01
|
Hi Folks,
We believe we've restored full email functionality to the forum, which means new users will get an activation email when they register to become a member. That said, if you notice any issues, whether email-related or not, here in the forum, with the game itself, or anywhere else on the site, please let us know and we'll investigate.
Cheers,
iamjanco
