Update Release 1.2.4

We’re continuing our habit of bringing you a new release version on Friday afternoon. Your game will automatically update to the new version the next time you start it. These are the main changes:

  • New, improved artificial intelligence! Thanks to Adam Marcus, a fellow MULE enthusiast and professor at Yale University, we now have more challenging computer opponents. He contacted us a few weeks ago and wanted to help out with the AI. “That’s great!” we said, and now you can try out the results (many thanks to Adam!) The new AI is not available on Mac OS X yet, but it will be in a near future. Mac users can still play online with Windows users and Linux users, but if a Mac user is hosting the game, regular AI will be used.
  • All players start with 2 energy instead of the previous 4.
  • The store can build up to 14 MULEs per round instead of 8.

These are the main bug fixes and non-gameplay additions:

  • The game should work now with more ATI/AMD video card drivers (e.g. Radeon cards). This fixes the issue “IllegalStateException: Function is not supported”.
  • OpenAL is now the only sound system used. This hopefully fixes a few sound and slowdown issues.
  • Fixed a bug which could freeze the game during the development phase.
  • The game should no more speed up after hibernating/pausing your computer.
  • Many minor fixes and additions.

There are still several known issues which we intend to fix in future releases. If you find a bug please report it in our forum.
Thank you all for your continous support and playing!

Have a nice weekend,
The Planet MULE team.
