Tournament Mode - 12 Rounds

Need 4 players to start - Max 2 computer players allowed

kipley joined the game in slot 1

roseneko visits

silentbone visits

roseneko: Room for one more?

kipley: Sure, have a seat

roseneko joined the game in slot 2

silentbone joined the game in slot 3

kipley: SilentBone, since you're new, I have to ask:

kipley: Have you at least completed some training games? And do you intend to stip around for the full 90 minutes to finish this game?

kipley: stip -> stick

silentbone: zes

silentbone: yes

kipley: I only ask because players who've played no games tend to play one round and disappear, in my experience.

kipley: But if you're good to go, that works for me

kipley: Hardly anyone in the lobby... you guys want to go with a computer AI for the fourth player?

roseneko: Works for me.

roseneko: And for the record, I'm not planning on deserting either. :)

kipley: silentbone, you ok with computer AI for the fourth?

silentbone: no

silentbone: need real plazer

roseneko: What's the difference?

kipley: Alright, we may be waiting a while, then, as there's nobody in the lobby. But I can wait if y'all can

roseneko: Does it actually make any difference, gameplay-wise, if one of the player's an AI?

kipley: The computer plays differently than a human, is all

roseneko: Huh. Okay.

silentbone: j

silentbone: ok lets plaz

Added computer player <J.I.M.>

silentbone: with ai

kipley: okey dokey, here we go

kipley: Good luck everyone

Round 1 of 12

kipley: wow, forgot to check everyone's lag... one of you doesn't have a great connection

roseneko: Not me. 20 megs down 2 up.

Round 2 of 12

Round 3 of 12

silentbone left the game

Computer takes over silentbone

kipley: As usual

Round 4 of 12

kipley: Even though he said he wouldn't leave

roseneko: Well, y'know. No reason to stay if he isn't winning. :)

kipley: I'm beginning to think I should rethink my policy of being friendly and playing with anyone. People with 0 games do the same thing every time... they leave

roseneko: I generally consider myself lucky if I find one good person to play with. *shrug* It's the Internet, after all.

roseneko: Also, wow, I've kinda screwed myself, huh.

kipley: Well, the people who've played several games with few abandons, you can count on

kipley: However, I feel like an ass if I say I'll only play with those with experience

roseneko: Yeah, 'cos there's no way to get experience if no one will play with you. :)

kipley: exactly

roseneko: Well, unless you know someone to play with IRL. (That's what I did.)

kipley: The problem is when so many noobs live up to their stereotype and quit. Makes it hard to trust noobs.

kipley: But you're turning out to be ok! ;-)

roseneko: Hee, thanks.

Round 5 of 12

roseneko: It's the eternal conundrum of the Internet - wanting to achieve the optimal outcome only available by trusting people's better natures, even when the majority of evidence points to them having none.

kipley: well put

roseneko: Hee. There's actually a whole segment of game theory devoted to it, but I suck at math so I just spell the concepts out in words.

kipley: Something related to the Prisoner's Dilemma, probably

roseneko: Related, yes, although I was specifically thinking about the rabbit/deer scenario. If I remember correctly, the general idea is that there are two hunters. Each hunter can choose to hunt two rabbits (which they can catch alone) or a deer (which means they have to cooperate).

roseneko: Obviously half a deer is better than two rabbits, but if the other hunter doesn't do his part, they both go home empty-handed.

roseneko: Hence, trust required for best-case outcome.

Round 6 of 12

kipley: seems about right

roseneko: Okay, I'll shut up now. :)

roseneko: Thanks, but I'd rather have cash...

kipley: cash is important

roseneko: Yeah, I tend to overbid on land and then run out of cash for development. Maybe I should've picked a Nekite character. :)

roseneko: Or Gollumer, or whatever they're called. The ones who love land.

Round 7 of 12

roseneko: Damn, what is with the craptastic Crystite prices this game?

kipley: Yep, been pretty bad

roseneko: You realize pirates are going to show up next turn. Guaranteed. :)

kipley: I'm just selling because of the whole "cash is important" thing

roseneko: Hee, yeah. I meant to buy some but wasn't quick enough.

Round 8 of 12

roseneko: My cat would totally eat the roof off my house if he could.

kipley: sweet

roseneko: Yeah, lucky you. :P

kipley: asteroid on turn 11 not as good... but turn 8, yeah

roseneko: True that.

roseneko: Sweet!

kipley: there we go

roseneko: Last game I lucked out and hit a crystite patch first thing. Good times.

roseneko: So did you ever play the original?

kipley: yep, on the Atari 800

roseneko: Awesome. I was a C64 kid myself.

roseneko: My brother and I both loved this game. He was so jazzed when I told him about the new version. :)

Round 9 of 12

Round 10 of 12

kipley: thanks

roseneko: What can I say? I have a soft heart. :)

roseneko: ah crap.

kipley: I was even going to let you have a couple energy, to repay your favor with the food

roseneko: I hate it when I do that.

kipley: Yeah, I've done that too many times before, too

Round 11 of 12

roseneko: *laughs* Overeagerness is the downfall of many an auctioneer.

roseneko: You jerk. :D

roseneko: (I guess it's less dickish when nobody needs them, as opposed to early in the game when everyone does...)

kipley: Be FREE, Mule!

roseneko: *snrk*

kipley: Hardly a jerk move at this point. Make smithore more valuable for everyone

roseneko: Indeed. :)

kipley: You've got a bunch of smithore plots, you should be grateful

roseneko: I know, I was just giving you crap. :)

kipley: Ooops, needed to free up a plot to spike the price

kipley: But I ran out of time before I could reach my plot

roseneko: oh well.

kipley: Can still do it next turn, as the computers aren't selling. Yay!

roseneko: Oh good. :)

kipley: You can help as well, if you want... go to your food plot and set your mule free

kipley: It'll spike smithore

roseneko: Sure, why not.

roseneko: It's not like I'll need the food.

kipley: It'll actually help you more than me, as you're still producing smithore

roseneko: Holy crow. And here I'd resigned myself to last place.

Round 12 of 12

kipley: well done

kipley: I'll let one go as well

roseneko: Hee, no worries.

kipley: That should be enough to raise smithore a bit

roseneko: We'll all be filthy rich! Mwahahaha@!

kipley: heh

kipley: Good game, roseneko. I had fun

roseneko: Woot. :) Me too, thanks.

roseneko: Bah. Overeager again.

kipley: Round 12, buying/selling doesn't really matter

kipley: worth same in assets as it is in cash

roseneko: Does the game value the stuff at the store's buying price, then? I'd wondered.

kipley: Either at it, or close to it... the important thing to know is, unless you have an irrational opponent willing to buy for more than it's worth, there's no point in selling

roseneko: True.

Game Over

Saving score, please wait...

Score saved

kipley: gg... see ya around

roseneko: Ah well. Guess I get the red lantern award. :)

roseneko: Thanks!

roseneko left the game

kipley: Yeah, spiking smithore actuallyhelped the computers more than you

roseneko was disconnected
