AbacusWizard: Shall I aid a couple of AIs and begin?

Added computer player <B.I.L.L.>

Added computer player <A.L.A.N.>

kipley: Sure thing... sorry, wasn't looking at the chat

AbacusWizard: Hi there

kipley: Thanks for hosting the game

Round 1 of 12

AbacusWizard: Indeed

kipley: FYI, if you ever get tired of watching the computer players walk through their moves, you can click the "Settings" button and turn them off. You'll still see the results of their turns, but won't have to sit through the whole animation

AbacusWizard: Hm, interesting

kipley: Though if you're brand new to the game, it can be fun to watch them

Round 2 of 12

AbacusWizard: Well hey, that does make things a lot faster.

kipley: yep

Round 3 of 12

kipley: Nice plot

AbacusWizard: That'll drive up prices.

kipley: Flammable store, we gots

kipley: Won't drive them up that much, as the store was already empty

AbacusWizard: Yeah

AbacusWizard: They sure like their energy, don't they?

Round 4 of 12

AbacusWizard: Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaand there's the payoff.

kipley: yep. If you can hold out till it hits $230, it's happy days

Round 5 of 12

Round 6 of 12

Round 7 of 12

kipley: You probably wanted to sell down to 50... any over 50 in ore/crystite you have will spoil next turn

AbacusWizard: The total stock drops to 50, regardless of how high over 50 it is?

kipley: The total YOU have drops to 50, regardless of how high over 50 you have... yes.

kipley: So you'll lose 10 crystite next round.

AbacusWizard: Oops.

Round 8 of 12

kipley: I'm getting ridiculously good land deals here

AbacusWizard: Yup

kipley: drat

AbacusWizard: Not quite fast enough

kipley: should have gone for a closer plot... getting too ambitious

kipley: But, nice payoff

AbacusWizard: Yeah, there it goes.

AbacusWizard: Good price this time.

AbacusWizard: Woohoo!

kipley: Cha ching

AbacusWizard: I feel a lot better about myself now. :-)

kipley: As well you should!

Round 9 of 12

AbacusWizard: Nicely done

kipley: thanks

Round 10 of 12

AbacusWizard: Aw.

Round 11 of 12

kipley: Here's where you sell down to 50

AbacusWizard: Yup

AbacusWizard: So how are resources converted into score?

AbacusWizard: Is it ever more profitable, scorewise, to sell all resources at the end because the money would be worth more points?

AbacusWizard: Or are the resources always worth more points?

kipley: The assets are valued as much as they are worth at the store price

AbacusWizard: Current store price at final turn

AbacusWizard: ?

kipley: It's never worth selling at round 12, unless somebody pushes above the store line. Which no rational player ever will, because the assets aren't worth more than that for the final game score

Round 12 of 12

AbacusWizard: Makes sense.

kipley: Yep, that's why folks usually just sit around at the final auctions

AbacusWizard: I figured that was probably why.

kipley: Good game, AbacusWizard. If this is indeed only your 3rd game, you seem to be picking things up pretty quickly

AbacusWizard: Thanks

AbacusWizard: I've played a handful of practice games too, but, well, the AI is a bit predictable.

kipley: Yes, you can't learn advanced strategy from the AI

kipley: Players can push the smithore prices up to great gain

AbacusWizard: On the other hand my first or second real game was against the number one ranked player, so I learned quite a lot from that. :-)

kipley: Yes, he's a crafy one

AbacusWizard: And yeah, I've definitely noticed that pushing smithore at the beginning is the dominant winning strategy.

kipley: It's fairly standard to push smithore up to $230 for profit.

AbacusWizard: Seems like some tweaks to make the other resources more viable might make for more interesting strategy.

kipley: The key is to time it correctly, or it can be devestating

AbacusWizard: Very true.
