boodxx: make a tournament game

bigheadzach: I'll be happy to answer questions during this training game.

boodxx joined the game in slot 3

LanceJZ: Cool thank you. Should I start it bighead?

bigheadzach: If you wish. SInce it's training there's no harm in adding an AI

LanceJZ: Thank you, very much.

bigheadzach: Go ahead and hit A to add one

Added computer player <D.A.N.>

LanceJZ: Oooo

Round 1 of 6

bigheadzach: Development is where you can install MULEs on plots, assay for Crystite, and try to catch the Mountain Wampus

bigheadzach: The Pub ends your turn but you're guaranteed to earn money - the more time you have left, the more you get

bigheadzach: Keep an eye out for unowned mountain areas...you might see the wampus!

LanceJZ: Mountain Wampus?

bigheadzach: He's a sneaky bastard but is bribed rather easily.

LanceJZ: lawl

LanceJZ: o.o

bigheadzach: The later in the game it is, the more he pays out

LanceJZ: meep what is that?

bigheadzach: Each round a random event occurs. That one stole everyone's Crystite (but we have none)

LanceJZ: Lucky for us.

bigheadzach: Crystite is like diamonds...it's a speculative mineral.

LanceJZ: Wooo I want that!

bigheadzach: Food is important because if you do not eat enough, you have less time during Development

bigheadzach: Energy is what powers your MULEs (except Energy MULEs)

bigheadzach: Extra Food spoils at 1:2, and extra Energy spoils at 1:4

bigheadzach: So you can stockpile, but there will be some loss.

Round 2 of 6

LanceJZ: Hahahaha

bigheadzach: Smithore is best in the Mountains, Energy best in the Plains, and Food best in the River Valley. Crystite is unknown until you try to mine it, or you can ttake an assay droid out.

LanceJZ: Right.

LanceJZ: Where he get two plots?

bigheadzach: These scrolly things are Personal Events...you have a 1 in 4 chance of having one each round. Good events can't happen to the leader, and Bad events can't happen to 3rd and 4th place

bigheadzach: One of the Good personal events is an extra plot. One of the Bad ones is losing one

LanceJZ: meep

bigheadzach: There's an assortment of personal and global events.

bigheadzach: The good news is that the global events can be predicted....a little.

bigheadzach: No global event can happen more than 3 times in a game

bigheadzach: And no global event happens in the last round

boodxx: press space bar to skip the prodiuction animantion

LanceJZ: meep fire!

boodxx: do nt sell

LanceJZ: Sell?? How do you sell what one does not have?

bigheadzach: When there is a shortage of a good, you can expect the price to go up - there's more to it than that, but that's the general idea

boodxx: talking to BHZ

LanceJZ: THats what I get for being nice. :p

bigheadzach: Bood and DAN will have less time next round :)

bigheadzach: Notice you and Bood got to the line about the same time? But because you are behind him in score, you got to trade first.

Round 3 of 6

LanceJZ: Ah, cool!

bigheadzach: The leader can't have anything but bad events...hence the "1st place curse"

bigheadzach: The game tries to punish the leader and help those behind

bigheadzach: So there's something to be said about "drafting" behind the leader, like in autosports

LanceJZ: sweet

bigheadzach: Notice the number of MULEs in the Corral is getting smaller...if we don't provide the Store with Smithore soon, it can't build enough MULEs to meet demand, and Smithore price (and therefore the price of MULEs) will skyrocket

bigheadzach: SOme of us are hoarding Smithore for this very reason ;)

boodxx: sweet

LanceJZ: someone likes to play with matches.

bigheadzach: Crystite price is random each round between $50 and $150. This price is low, so I'm going to hold onto it.

bigheadzach: Since Food spoilage is 1:2, you can hold onto one extra unit without it spoiling

bigheadzach: I'm in some trouble. I don't have enough energy to power my plots...meaning some of them won't produce

bigheadzach: randomly

LanceJZ: Oh!

Round 4 of 6

bigheadzach: Energy MULEs don't need energy...I might decide to change what one of my plots is making

bigheadzach: A land auction! Here's a chance to get extra land...but you have to pay for it.

LanceJZ: Bastar AI

bigheadzach: Land is worth a minimum $500 at the end, so don't be afraid to raise the price

bigheadzach: Put it back in the corral if you don't want it anymore.

LanceJZ: That was stupid of me. x.x

bigheadzach: You can swap MULEs out, as you can see.

LanceJZ: I got confused what one.

bigheadzach: Or, pick a MULE up, take it back to the town, and refit it for another resource

LanceJZ: Oh.

LanceJZ: You can pick it up?

bigheadzach: Yes, just go to the plot and press the action button

LanceJZ: Thank you. :D

LanceJZ: Only two left ack.

LanceJZ: We are out of them!

bigheadzach: With DAN using the last MULE, there's going to be a shortage! Watch as the price of Smithore goes up!

LanceJZ: Ack.

bigheadzach: The price of MULEs will be big next turn, over $300

LanceJZ: ;.;

bigheadzach: $92...nope, still too low. Let it ride.

LanceJZ: I wont be able to afford one haha

bigheadzach: You might want to try finding the Wampus before attempting to install a MULE then

bigheadzach: When you see the mountain he's on, run over to it and hit the action button like crazy!

bigheadzach: But he jumps from peak to peak, so be quick

bigheadzach: Now with all that Smithore in the store, it will build MULEs again...but the prices won't come down for a turn or two

Round 5 of 6

LanceJZ: I got money now.

bigheadzach: Notice the ? where I installed a Crystite MULE? I won't know what its production potential is (the crystite icons) until Production Phase.

bigheadzach: (that's why assays are useful if you have the time)

LanceJZ: I see.

LanceJZ: Its high!

bigheadzach: I lucked out. However there are patterns to where the High plots are...they bloom outward in a circle.

bigheadzach: Damn bugs. I hate em.

LanceJZ: Haha

bigheadzach: The 1st place curse strikes again

LanceJZ: Thast makes sense.

LanceJZ: I need money.

bigheadzach: Well we only have one more round.

bigheadzach: That's a good price.

LanceJZ: Oh yeah.

boodxx: noice

LanceJZ: Wooo.

bigheadzach: It could go up in the last round (and I don't have to fear a pirate raid), but it could also go down.

LanceJZ: `ack

bigheadzach: Again, you got to trade first because you are behind me

bigheadzach: Being behind has its benefits!

LanceJZ: Good thing you could have got all the food just to stop me from haveing time.

LanceJZ: He got you on the way down hehe.

bigheadzach: That's a viable strategy.

Round 6 of 6

bigheadzach: Remember when I said Crystite blooms in a circle pattern? That's why I took the plot I did.

boodxx: hey i was 320

LanceJZ: haha

LanceJZ: Wow lots of land auctions.

bigheadzach: Occasionally there's a lot.

bigheadzach: The number of icons to the left of the little building indicate the average number of units that plot will produce of that good.

LanceJZ: Right.

bigheadzach: Also since this is the last round there is no need to sell anything, it's automatically converted into cash

LanceJZ: Oh look at the price!

bigheadzach: I shouldve held onto what I had last round :P

LanceJZ: Yeah looks like its a gamble.

bigheadzach: Especially with pirates lurking about.

Game Over

Saving score, please wait...

Score saved

boodxx left the game

LanceJZ: Wow what a surprise at who won. hahaha

boodxx was disconnected

LanceJZ: Thank you very much.

LanceJZ: Now I can play a real game, and one day be good at it haha

bigheadzach: Ok, notice the thing at the bottom of the screen - if we as a group don't score a minimum number of points, no one wins! Thank goodness we did good enough this time...

LanceJZ: What is the min?

bigheadzach: For a 12 round game you must earn $60,000 to end in a win

LanceJZ: So 30k for 6?

bigheadzach: Otherwise, you end up living in tents, in debtors' prison, or worse.

LanceJZ: lol

bigheadzach: If you work it out right, and score $120,000 or more , everyone retires in luxurious estates!

LanceJZ: wooo

LanceJZ: Thank you for the game and info. :D

bigheadzach: So, while you're trying to win...if you're too cutthroat, you might doom the colony. :) Be sure to check the Beginner's Guide posts on the Features & Suggestions forum for more info

LanceJZ: :D Thank you!
