Karawane visits
Karawane: Hi!
cyounghusband: hi
cyounghusband: how long do you want to hang out looking for more players?
Karawane: Actually, I do not have the time to play 12 months. I just wanted to chat a little.
Karawane: sorry :-(
Karawane: How come you are up this early in Canada?
cyounghusband: just was really tired when I got home from work last night...spent a little quality time with the wife and crashed
cyounghusband: so up again at 4
Karawane: yikes
Karawane: How often have you played MULE since our last game?
cyounghusband: i don't remember...
cyounghusband joined the game in slot 1
cyounghusband: so I guess I've played 17 times so far? I'm sure I haven't finished that many games though...
Karawane: I will just stay in here to attract some players for you.
cyounghusband: hmm, I guess if you include the training
Karawane: Do you read the threads in the Forum?
cyounghusband: a little
Karawane: So, have you read the thread about the spoilage of smithore?
cyounghusband: yes, a little
cyounghusband: I think they need to add that... it is very hard to defend against smithore hoarding alone without getting into it yourself
cyounghusband: changing it to the spoilage to 50 as it was in the original game would be much better anyway...though there are a lot of things they could do about it
Karawane: I remember you are only 17. What did attract you to this old game?
cyounghusband: no, i'm old
cyounghusband: 35
Karawane: oops
Karawane: So, who was the guy who is only 17 in our last game?
cyounghusband: i don't remember, when did we play last?
cyounghusband: i don't remmeber playing with a 17-year-o.d
Karawane: Ok, I see. You are REALLY playing often ;-)
cyounghusband: lately I guess so
Karawane: Have you ever played the Atari MULE via Internet?
cyounghusband: i do more training though -- I have an infant who wakes up often so it's harder to play a tournament with several players non stop for 90 mins
Karawane: I see. How old is your cild?
cyounghusband: no...I remembered playing MULE on a c64 when I was young so I tried this out when I read about it on arstechnica
cyounghusband: 3 months
Karawane: Congratulations then to your new child :-)
Karawane: For playing computer games with a young child, I propose turn based games which are not played in real time.
Karawane: You can easily interrupt and resume after your child falls asleep again.
cyounghusband: yes, I do like strategy games so I usually stick with single player games that can be paused easily...
cyounghusband: MULE is a little different as I've played with the AI but other players are just more interesting
Karawane: eMail games and turn based games can also be paused easily even when you play with another person.
Karawane: Do you know Perfect General, or Empire or Age of Wonders?
Karawane: Or Battle Isle?
Karawane: All very new-born-friendly :-)
cyounghusband: hmm, I played Battle Isle way, way back I think
Karawane: Batlle Isle II and III are both very good strategy games and they work well in eMail mode (meaning you take your time for a turn and then send it by eMail)
Karawane: same applies to Age of Wonders and Empire
cyounghusband: i try to avoid too trying out much in the way of games as I don't really have time for them... I used to play a lot of Command and Conquer etc. but mostly in single player only
Karawane: Playing with a person you know is great: just call by phone when your turn has been sent. He or she can take care of his/her child meanwhile ;-)
cyounghusband: good point...
Karawane: I did this with two friends who both had new-borns at the time we played.
Karawane: It's just a way to satisfy your addiction even with a new child :-D

cyounghusband: bummer
vox: the game froze us out

cyounghusband: i haven't played with other players too often, but twice when e2on has hosted it froze up so I think it depends a bit on who is hosting
