landru: i've started playing a little differently too - my last 3 games were all atypical for me

landru: in one i never made tite at all

landru: and in the last one, everyone was mocking me for taking the wrong plot (i had a high coming to me and i missed it)

landru: there's a lot more to this game than people think - especially MB, who thinks there's only one way to play and that's it

landru: he's wrong, there are many ways to win - the most important is to be flexible

landru: it's also good to have money :)

landru: when my cheif rival in the last game won a late land auction over me, i knew i had the win sealed becasue he wouldn't be able to stop me from buying all the ore and spiking it

landru: MB would never abide losing an auction, but i think it won me the game

landru: i started in the first slot - only two high mtns

Sir Ron: in 1st place you dont have a choice of plots

landru: someone even said 'but you don't have any mountains this time'

landru: ron, i saw you take a river plot first. i have been seriously thinking of doing that - how is it working out?

landru: you figure, most of the time you end up with a river plot anyway, and if you had it from the beginning you'd have been a lot better off

Sir Ron: i do it i am in 1st and there are lots of 2 tops available

landru: but doesn't it make it harder to sandbag?

landru: i remember in the c64 days we used to always take the 4 river plots first.

landru: i think it was a little harder in the old game - if you got caught out without food early your game was over

landru: like glac-elves in round 1 could really kill you

Sir Ron: i have had runaway in round 2 and lost a food plot, of course no one sold any for 10 rounds, that was the worst game ever, almost pulled out

NJDevil: the 16 plots for sale in 12 rounds kills it

NJDevil: in the old games u tried to buid a base....food eng then ore and tite for $$$

NJDevil: now you get so many plots u dont have to work with people since everyone is jsut concerned with land

landru: i also think this version of the game is more skewed toward tite and ore - the old game you could be the food/energy baron and win

landru: there were only 3 highs , and usually 3 high mtns, not 4, so someone always got shafted , which was motivation to exploit the other commodities
