Dyna: i play it a lot...abut 200 games i think
Dyna: it is close to being really good

Dyna: but compared to mule community is huge haha
AlpenCactus: but yeah, you'd think they'd want to increase user base

Dyna: i think 25 would be better price point
Dyna: but compared to civ beyone earth its way better

Dyna: i normally have buyers remorse but did not for offworld

Dyna: once i hit $.25/hour the price doesn't bother me

AlpenCactus: i would like to try it out, but i think i'll wait for a better deal

Dyna: i used to play every night with mrgood and mulesballs ab out 5 years ago.... we would play all night until about now
AlpenCactus: i often come on between 10 and 11A your time
Dyna: now mrgood seems to go to bed early and mules just talks hehe
AlpenCactus: yeah, i played quite a few with that pair as well
AlpenCactus: i started a little over a year ago
AlpenCactus: mb, good, and hutz were pretty regular
Dyna: i think i messed up the graveyard games by quitting

Dyna: had my first kid and ran out of time...
Dyna: not really....4 or 5 in the world at this time
Dyna: but thats better than 2 or 3 haha

AlpenCactus: it amazes me how some of those guys never seem to tire of the game
Dyna: i love mule, but it gets to be a solved game at some point
AlpenCactus: rho has an amazing flair and feel for it
Dyna: but anyone can still win any given game
AlpenCactus: he knows the workings better than anyone and calculates well
Dyna: he makes very few mistakes
Dyna: he always liked to tell people how to play though ...at least thats what i remember
AlpenCactus: good doesn't seem as analytical, but just plays very solidly
AlpenCactus: yeah, rho will criticize
AlpenCactus: i find that helpful
AlpenCactus: i've learned quite a few tips that way
Dyna: mr good has played so many games....he had so many games on Rodz and Zdor as well
AlpenCactus: did he play before rodz?
AlpenCactus: rodz seems to have too good stats for a beginner
Dyna: not sure thats they same time i played wth him
Dyna: that was before people started making smurfs
Dyna: it all started with the stupid rating points/discussion
AlpenCactus: did you play before they started having ore spoil?
Dyna: i think i always played it spoiled at 50....but maybe i am wrong
AlpenCactus: i saw in the beginning players racked up massive point totals by hoarding hundreds of ore units and spiking
Dyna: i quit over 4 years ago and i played pretty religiously for about 18 months after they banned online poker in US
AlpenCactus: what changed in the States -- is it ok now?
Dyna: still against the law except for a couple of states where you have to play against people in same state
Dyna: i live in utah so doubtful it will be legal here again
Dyna: unless they legalize nationally
Dyna: which they won;t

AlpenCactus: more likely to take it away from the natives

Dyna: its ok it was really bad for my life

Dyna: and i was someone who made a living from it
Dyna: i hate to see how bad it was for most peoples lives
Dyna: ya vegas was always like a vacation from poker
Dyna: they only let you play 1 table at a time
Dyna: since i usually played on 8 tables for 12 hours each day it was really boring

Dyna: a small percentage of the money you paid in rake back
AlpenCactus: what's that?
Dyna: if you were playing optimum strategy and played huge volumes you could grind quite a lot of money
Dyna: rake is the portion of the pot that the house gets for running the game
AlpenCactus: so, you don't try to read the players when playing online?
AlpenCactus: just the odds
Dyna: affiliates would sign people up to sites and then pay them a percentage of their rake back to them each month
Dyna: well it gets pretty complicated
Dyna: eventually there was a bunch of poker tracking software
Dyna: that recorded every hand you have every played or seen against every player
Dyna: so you could see in real time what a players percentage to do certain actions at certain times
AlpenCactus: i used to keep player notes on pokerstars
AlpenCactus: came in handy once in awhile
AlpenCactus: i only played free games
Dyna: i had a several million hand data base on poker tracker
Dyna: plus there are a bunch of common online tells you see commonly as well
AlpenCactus: do you use that to look for bluffing?
Dyna: but as the years went by, a lot more players were pros
Dyna: too easy for the non pros to go broke
Dyna: ya you mostly just use the numbers to help inform your decisions
Dyna: i was against it
Dyna: but if you weren;t using poker tracker you were at a big disadvantage

Dyna: percentage of hands played, 3 bet percentage, river bet percentage, really everything you can think of...it then also organized it into a profile...Loosa agressive, rock, fish, passive agressive
Dyna: in the end though you ended up playing about 80% of the same people everyday each playing 4 - 16 tables
Dyna: wasn;t too hard to know how everyone was playing
Dyna: the trick ws always how to exploit that without going broke
Dyna: game constantly evolved
AlpenCactus: lots of head games
Dyna: lots
Dyna: key quality was patience
Dyna: and the ability to lose 1000's and not go on to lose 10'000's
Dyna: which is much more difficult than you might think
AlpenCactus: that would be tough with a family
Dyna: i see those tv pros tilt off all the time
Dyna: i loved it when the internet guys started playing with the old school pros and ripped them apart
Dyna: the game had evolved so far beyond what live poker was capable of
AlpenCactus: have you played in the WSOP Main Event?
Dyna: been to the wsop a few time but never played an event...only played cash games....so many bad players in vegas during tourney time
Dyna: vegas is filled with the worst players in the world at all times though
AlpenCactus: lol
Dyna: but it did start getting harder when they shut down onlone poker and everyone had to quit, move to vegas or move out of the country
AlpenCactus: is online poker truly shut down now?
Dyna: my thing was always bank roll managment
Dyna: my wife was always patiently waiting for me to go broke so i would get a real job

Dyna: ya online is done except nevada can play peeps in nevada

Dyna: started a business...i was never a real job kind of guy
AlpenCactus: well, i can see where poker skills would come in handy here
Dyna: first day i made $37 playing $2 sit n go's
AlpenCactus: with the quick calculations and player reading
Dyna: 2nd day made $50...just kind of kept going
AlpenCactus: yeah, that WOULD be encouraging
AlpenCactus: i lived in Reno for a few years
Dyna: helped cure my evercrack addiction
Dyna: reno is an awesom town
AlpenCactus: worst thing was always winning something the first time i played
Dyna: bowling stadium is there!
Dyna: i was born in Ely, NV

Dyna: ya he lived there with my mom before i was born
AlpenCactus: i was there for grad school in the early 90s
AlpenCactus: not a bad place to live, i think
Dyna: so anyway...proper bankroll mangement wouldn't let me play the WSOP until i had disposable poker bankroll of 1 Million
Dyna: that didn't happen
AlpenCactus: buy in's only 10k though, isn't it?
Dyna: i made a comfy 20 - 30k in my boxers in my basement...but in the end it was a waste of time
Dyna: really should never be playing with more than 1 or 2% buy in....easy to lose 40 in a row without cashing
AlpenCactus: well, with kids, it's good to be engaged in the world
Dyna: ya
Dyna: theres a saying that poker is a tough way to make an easy living
AlpenCactus: i could imagine
Dyna: i could have probably made about 50k a year in vegas, but would have had to live a degenerate lifestyle
AlpenCactus: could also be an easy way to make a tough living
Dyna: i love vegas but would never want to live there
AlpenCactus: seems were not going to get any takers here
AlpenCactus: i'm going to cut out for awhile
Dyna: the numbers don't sound that big but it is only playing $1/$2 online or $2/$5 in vegas
