We’ve got a new ranking system in place which you can view here. It’s experimental and subject to change so please let us know what you think by leaving a reply in this forum thread.
The purpose of the new ranking is to more accurately measure the skill level of players. This will help players to know if their opponent is at the same experience level and also let new players climb faster on the leader board by challenging and beating skilled opponents.
