We’re excited to announce the release of Planet M.U.L.E. version 1.4.0, our biggest update in years! This update improves platform support, modernizes the launcher, adds long-requested multiplayer features, and brings several gameplay and AI tweaks.

✨ New Launcher Required
This update replaces the old launcher with an entirely new one.
➡️ All players will need to download the new binary to continue playing.
Improved Platform Support
Version 1.4.0 adds support for modern systems across all major platforms:

Windows 10 and 11

macOS ARM64 and x86_64

Linux x86_64
This should make the game run more reliably on modern hardware and operating systems.
Easier Multiplayer Hosting
Hosting your own games just became much easier.
Tunneling Support
You can now host games through tunneling services (e.g., playit.gg) without needing to set up port forwarding manually.
Dedicated Server Commands
We’ve also introduced a simple set of commands for dedicated servers:
kick, addai, ready, start, pings, restart
Write server:? or server:help in the server/lobby chat to see all available commands.

Reconnect Support
If you lose your connection during a match, you can now rejoin the same game and continue playing. No more losing an entire session due to a temporary drop!
Lobby Voting: Gain & Lose Plot Events
Players have had mixed feelings about the “gain and lose plot events,” so we added a new lobby vote option.
Before starting a game, players can now vote to enable or disable these events.

Along with the major features, version 1.4.0 includes:

- A “fast mode” option to speed up and skip certain animations and auction timers (when no player is moving), improving gameplay flow based on player feedback.

Tweaked AI behavior; the AI will now act a bit more selfishly, so players may not always be able to rely on it for food and energy.
