Hey guys,

I'm fed up with all the swearing and cursing around here and especially during a game..
Well, that's for some of you out there, most don't  Cheesy

Can't you all calm down a bit if things ain't going your way?

Try and figure out what you are doing wrong yourself before you open your mouth.

I F@#$ING HATE IT!!   Wink

While language itself doesn't bother me, I'm getting tired of those throwing personal attacks back and forth. I'm not talking about a joking f-you for getting the better end of a deal, I'm talking about condesending blame and whining.

Regardless of how 'well someone understands the game' at any point, this is ridiculous. Anyone can make a mistake, gamble on an upcoming random event, etc.

Those who throw insults at others because things don't go their way (shorting someone food who didn't make any of their own, etc.), should consider taking a break from MULE and try running around outside for a while. You do realize this is part of the game no? Do you act this vile when not hiding behind a keyboard?

Seriously, it's not game 7. It's not the olympics. Even if it was, it's just a frigging game!

I'm glad language doesn't bother you because frankly it is one of the best methods for communicating. Mere grunts are ineffective in our modern society. I suppose one could argue that even grunts in systematic fashion could be deemed a sort of language, I am not a linguist so do not know what threshold must be passed to declare a 'language' to exist.

Obviously, you are not talking about a joking f-you. Who doesn't love light hearted banter with liberal f-yous? It's such a playful term and I think we use it too sparingly, tonight say it to everyone you meet; but remember to exclaim 'I am joking!!!!'.

One way to avoid condescension is to improve the quality of your thought processes. Having good language skills is usually a solid indicator that one has the capacity for sound logic; it is a good sign that you are not bothered by language.

It is a nuanced point you make in this sentence 'Regardless of how "well someone understands the game" at any point'. Normally one would put 'understands' in quotations yet you chose a different syntax. The qualifier at any point is interesting, I think it speaks to why we love this game so much. We can never really understand the game. All we can hope for is a moment of clarity, that one point in time where you realize you can't mine on the river bed.

Your advice to seek some physical exercise is a good one and would probably reduce our disproportionately high rate of cardiovascular issues faced by the community. I would dispute your claim that such exercise is part of the game though. It is not the people who are vile, it is their keyboards, full of crumbs of all sorts.

For some people on some days, it is in fact game 7.

Spiz, Thank you for your contribution you have given us a lot to think about.
