every game the graphics will not show up till i press the setting tab and then it works fine

I think I have a related problem, but opening settings doesn't work. What DOES work for me is going fullscreen. When I go to fullscreen mode the graphics show up and they stay when I go back to windowed mode. I'm running OS X (10.4).
