Technical Ideas

This is my cozy corner for technical considerations. Here we can discuss what fluff around the game that is important to include in MULE 2010. I'll update this posts as new things comes along or decisions are made.
Will most likely be included:
- Pause game.
- Spectators.
- Game configs which are shared over network when starting games (for easier designer testing/tweaking). For example setting initial start conditions, goods, timings etc.
Ideas:
- Leaving and joining a game session. While not logged in the AI takes over (similar to Left 4 dead).
- Console commands like "cheats" which you can type while playing in debug mode. Example: Set owner of a tile. Set the next phase to play. Add money/goods.
- Possibility to start a dedicated server. A server which only hosts games and do not itself participate in them.
- Dedicated server can host many game sessions at the same time.
- Possibility to show replays of games. Fast forward? Rewind?
- Save a game and return to it later.
- Many human players using one computer. Hot seat. Keyboard + game pad.

Hey Peter,
Most of these things sound like things that can be added to the current Planet M.U.L.E. client. The only ones I can see for specifically a M.U.L.E. 2010 testing prototype would be the shared game configs and the debug/cheat console.
Are these things you want to discuss for the engine that includes Classic Planet M.U.L.E., or are these things only for the "sequel"?
I'm just trying to figure out which protected boards should be used for which purpose.
Thanks!
Sean

The protected boards are meant for the sequel we for te moment call "Mule 2010". Ideas for the current/classic planet mule can be discussed in the open boards.
