It's called SPAM. Instead of paying a decent advertising campaign, those companies invade other people's sites SPAMming and flooding with their advertisements because it's cheaper. Whenever you see one of those ads or even ridiculous answers with the ads in the signature, report it. The admin then will take care of that.

:Yes im quite unhappy, why is the admin not taken care of this issue yet? please get rid of the advertisements. This seems to happen when you move your cursor over a link or title.

Admin does what they can to stop it, but SEO advertisers just make new accounts and spam again, and it's impossible to block so all they can do is delete them as they come up.

The admin has his own life, you know? :p He can't be 100% of the time on Planet MULE. Just report those messages, he'll take care of them as soon as possible.

You know what's sad about it, is many of the sites in those links don't endorse the advertising practice that put their link in the forum.  I've actually seen an ad here directing people to a boarding academy and horse stable run by the church I grew up in.  I contacted the principle and he reported back that they had just hired an SEO advertiser to make them more notable on search engines.  (What SEO advertising is supposed to be about.)  He contacted the company they hired to do it and chewed them out for using spammy techniques, and I do believe they dumped the advertiser.

I suppose that by denouncing and/or condemning those practices, the company will gradually lose clients. Some of them possibly don't know about the "Way of the SPAM", while others possibly do it being awared of such despicable practices.

I doubt that SPAMming campaigns have any positive effect, as we often go like "Again one of those shitty company fliers on my car?!". The more you hammer about something, the more likely you are of being hated for it. :p

It amazes me that people complain about issues on this site when the developers are giving you this product for free. FREE people.  I'm not sure how many of the 25,000 plus people would have paid to play the game, so let's not criticize, but be thankful that Planet MULE is available.

I wasn't complaining that admin wasn't doing a good job.  I think they've done an incredibly awesome job at keeping the spam down, my point was, no one can totally stop SEO spamming abuses.  I think most of us hear at P.M. that actively play the game truly appreciate what Turborilla has created here, and every last one of those appreciates your dad's ingenuity at creating the original Melanie. Smiley

I've done my share of policing the spam myself, reporting it regularly, though it seems to have thinned out a lot, probably because admin narrowed down some of the primary source servers that were producing it, and once I even recognized the spam as advertising for an entity I am familiar with and nipped it at the source myself by letting them know what the SEO provider they were paying was doing for them to soil their good name.  It's amazing how much of those spamming practices are done without the knowledge of the people that paid for the advertising.  I think awareness is growing though, and SEO providers are starting to loose business.

I guess she said it because of theBlue, not to you, when he said that the admin wasn't taking care of the SPAMs. Some time ago, data2008 was having a few busy days and was unable to do it faster, but he was did the task when he solved all the stuff.

As for criticism, it helps for improving. As long as it is provides good reasons and not just complaints and whinning. Criticism and suggestions made Planet MULE "evolve" at small steps. Well, from time to time we are seeing some complaints about the lack of updates for Planet MULE1, but we all have busy lives, so it's normal if it takes time and other projects delay it a bit more. But we are just cursing the SPAMmers, Tongue not the admin nor the forum or game.

Maybe the main problem is that many of the 25.000 accounts seem to be dead/inactive/abandoned, while others are just multis of other players. But the admin should be the one confirming it. I've rarely seen more then 16 players in the same hour lately. (Not that I connect that much now, but some players there anyway.)

By the way, great to see you here again. Dan was a genius, and this game being played almost 30 years after its creation proves it. Have no doubts that players in here appreciate all of this being for free.
