Planet Mule 1 / Planet M.U.L.E. 1 Discussion / Re: Hosting Bot - Feedback and Suggestions

Hi main, thx for your excellent mule4u-bot! I particularly enjoy the "obscure records". I´ve got one little suggestion which others have already talked about: PLEASE remove "bot: auctions" altogether. I think this command is indeed totally superfluous. Even worse, it gives a huge advantage to players who are familiar with your bot. I needed some time to check out that some players now type this command to find out if they have to bid the extra $60 in an auction in order to prevent another player from buying another plot. In my humble opinion, this command is really a nuisance, because it also makes the game unnecessarily complicated and distracts from the real action. I don´t enjoy having to type commands in order to have a better chance to win. Pure gameplay - that´s what we want, don´t we? Greetings from mopssamson

Planet Mule 2 / Planet M.U.L.E. 2 Discussion / MULE 2 Betatest

Today I had the honour to participate in the betatest of Mule2. It was amazing. Unfortunately, the land loss in round 2 is still possible - this event is so depressing! In modifying that, you will certainly mollify a lot of MULE enthusiasts! I personally hate this event altogether because it is by far too powerful. I like a bit of (bad) luck in a game but not to that extent. I don´t want MULE to rob me of any chance to win the game. Otherwise, the guys at turborilla have changed the gameplay a lot: for example, you play simultaneously not only during the auctions but also during land grant and while you work out your mules. That´s great because it makes the game more dynamic. Dan Bunten may have done that, too, if he had had more than one pc for one session. Moreover, you are allowed to change your race every turn and thus benefit from different advantages. These changes makes the gameplay more profound, allowing different strategies and more individual freedom. There are also more players (5) and a bigger board. Gameplay is smooth. The graphics look great, too. I´m looking forward to playing the final version! Great work!

About my experience with Dallas: He left one game (not being host) some time ago, he being the last without chances of winning. Today I´ve played with him as host. I suddenly got the message that my network connection timed out (or something) and was OUT. The game was running very slowly all the time. This is the first time for me that a game comes to a standstill and I am the only one to be OUT. Of course, I got the "abandoned". Well, I don´t know how to interpret these things - I just leave it to you. But I didn´t leave the game on purpose. Greetings...

For Null: Sorry, but I´m not a top 100 player, as you said in your contribution here. I´m number 300 something. So, as a new player, I understand your complaints quite well, but I just cannot remember anything wicked we did. It was just a normal game for me. Maybe that´s just my moral corruption through MULE. ;-) Honestly, it is difficult to justify my or our actions because I don´t remember much from the game itself. However, I remember mametoc having problems with nrg, too: you were not the only one. In any case, I´d like to defend mametoc and mogs. They´re both decent players I have played several times. These were enjoyable games. MULE can be a cruel game, it´s true. Maybe it should be less cruel for new players. Maybe we should have helped you out. I would have liked to know how you had been feeling about the game before you froze it for everybody. You didn´t give us the chance to know how you felt. The last thing I wish to say is: MULE can be a highly frustrating game for EVERYBODY, not just for new players. But quitting is never an option, because it destroys the game and makes the community distrustful in general. Greetings from mopssamson

I can confirm what mogs says. I am still stuck up in this stalemate game. What is more, Null waited about 20min until he pressed his button in summary 7 so that poor mametoc missed out his plot. Now we´re again stuck in summary 8. Nothing has been happening for another 30min. Great, isn´t it? Dancing to the MULE soundtrack is a rather tiresome alternative to playing the game.
