1  Planet Mule 1 / Old Bugs 1.0 / Re: Another game crash: on: December 13, 2009, 19:38

ANOTHER abandonment.  (This one, the host says he crashed.)

At this point, I'm willing to just quit this whole thing until further notice.  This now has the feel of a noble experiment that, like all my lost colonies, failed dismally!   Sad
2  Planet Mule 1 / Old Bugs 1.0 / Another game crash: on: December 13, 2009, 18:23
http://www.planetmule.com/sector-map?mycolonies&game_id=7280

About 7 turns in, the purple player was reporting a high ping (over 250); our auctions, as a result, were hung up whenever someone tried to trade a good.  We decided to kick him off (much to his chagrin), and it solved the problem temporarily.

During Auction 9, the green player disconnected.  Then purple (who by now was a bot) started trading energy when it froze again ... but this time, there was no way to get him off the trading line.

Robbie (blue) and I (red) had to abandon.

It is getting rather frustrating.  Maybe instead of focusing on changing the gameplay, focus more on being able to complete these games.
3  Planet Mule 2 / Ideas / Re: Food and Energy; making them more valuable to the colony. on: December 13, 2009, 14:02
Youre right, the weight of the goods need a redesign. Actually smithore is overpowered and food/energy is underpowered. Crystite is not what it should be, you always earn more money with smithore than crystite because of the high amount of smithore you can produce.

Again, this is due to the lack of EOS for Crystite and will be fixed in the next version.

Food and Energy probably should be a little more important, but the fact is that anyone can go big in Smithore, so I have no problem with its power over the 'lesser' resources.
4  Planet Mule 1 / Old Bugs 1.0 / Re: Store price for energy not adjusting for supply and demand on: December 13, 2009, 13:57
Was there enough energy to go around (if players wanted to be altruistic, that is)?  If so, then there was no shortage and so no reason for the price to go up.

Now if no one was producing energy AND the store was empty AND the minimum price was $10, then there's a problem.
5  Planet Mule 1 / Strategy Guides / Re: Player Events and Global Events (Kroah Decompilation 4.4.3, 4.6) on: December 13, 2009, 05:17
Excellent summary ... particularly the math regarding acid rain (which I never knew).

Some other points (a few of which have been touched upon):

a) The same player event should never occur more than once, as it commonly happens now.  (EXCEPTION: during a food/energy shortage, multiple players can receive the package.)

b) Among the possible planet events, include the 'nothing happens' event.  This is possible, if rare.

c) I definitely like the idea of expanding the number of player events.  Perhaps we can open a separate forum for ideas, the best of which can be used.  (Maybe also include new ideas for planet events.)

(For those who have played the boardgame Agricola and have seen the 'banach' website, that forum allowed for member-defined occupations and improvements; now some of them will actually be published.)

Really for me, 'a' is too important to ignore.  It's just too weird to have two players get money off Artificial Dumbness, on the same turn!

Minor squibbles.  Still a great site.  (Still wish I could get my computer to work for hosting.)
6  Planet Mule 1 / Old Bugs 1.0 / Another game hangup: on: December 12, 2009, 04:48
http://www.planetmule.com/sector-map?mycolonies&game_id=5527

Happened in Development #9.  Qwave99 (green) got hungup, eventually got kicked out (not by us players), then a clicking sound eminated and wouldn't stop while the game hung.

We had to abort.
7  Planet Mule 1 / Old Bugs 1.0 / Re: OK, can I get more detailed instructions regarding 6260? on: December 12, 2009, 03:15
Now it seems to be worse; I can't get into anyone else's game now.  I was able to do so yesterday.

EDIT: I got it to join, by lowering the firewall (which I didn't think I'd have to do).
8  Planet Mule 1 / Old Bugs 1.0 / Re: OK, can I get more detailed instructions regarding 6260? on: December 12, 2009, 02:38
When I typed in 192.168.1.1, it sent me to 'Verizon Wireless Gateway', which isn't on their list.

I wasn't sure exactly where to go or what to click.

Any suggestions?
9  Planet Mule 1 / Strategy Guides / Re: The Many Endings of MULE (Kroah Decompilation 4.10.3 - 4.10.4) on: December 09, 2009, 03:41
Thx for that!  I never knew there even existed a doomsday message.  Certainly I have seen the food, energy, and smithore shortage messages (though not since coming here).
10  Planet Mule 1 / Old Bugs 1.0 / Re: Game froze after someone left: on: December 08, 2009, 02:53
Auction 8 or 9, I think.  Just before the land auction.

It just happened in another game.  Round 5, just after the land grab.  I was first to act (during a mule shortage), and my color flashed ... but nothing else happened.  We could chat, but couldn't act.
11  M.U.L.E. Community / Website, Ranks & Forum / Regarding hi-scores: on: December 07, 2009, 04:16
Will it be possible in the future to sort scores by highest-to-lowest, for example.  (I.E., not simply chronologically.)
12  Planet Mule 1 / Old Bugs 1.0 / OK, can I get more detailed instructions regarding 6260? on: December 07, 2009, 04:02
I went to the FAQ, but couldn't make heads or tails of it.  (If I need to purchase something fancy, I'd rather not.)

Is it possible to get some step-by-step instructions to figure out how to host?  (I was already able to finish a game hosted by someone else, so that's not a problem.)
13  Planet Mule 1 / Planet M.U.L.E. 1 Discussion / Re: THANK YOU! on: December 07, 2009, 03:45
Still a couple bugs to work out ... but I must agree with everyone.

I waited for a site like this for years!  Big props to everyone involved with bringing this site to reality!
14  Planet Mule 1 / Old Bugs 1.0 / Game froze after someone left: on: December 06, 2009, 23:03
We were in a 4pl game that was going well.  During the 9th auction (out of 12), one player dropped out, ostensibly replaced by a bot.

That was it; the game froze (though we could chat) and we had to quit the game.
