grandpappysmurf has reached 1000 games and so is now retired.
unfortunately i have also retired as i don't enjoy playing as much as i used to and can't be bothered with the rubbish that goes on at times.
i may make the odd surprise visit sometime but after more than 3000 games i think i have had enough

playing a game recently as ZDor i had a opponent decide to buy chrystite from another player in round 11 for $180.00. his reasoning for this was that if the game had stuffed him up he was going to ruin someone else's day.
i can handle things if people buy out the store or wont sell food or nrg at any time, this is part of the game,but to buy at an inflated price with no hope of a return i feel is totally unethical.

i wont be playing with maplefish again and if anyone else does, beware

not to worry, alls well. out of hospital with another stent to keep me going, was only a minor heart attack anyway

just played a game with null as host. he was well and truly beaten but kept playing till the end, i dont have a problem with him and i understand his problem about newbies. i will take them to a training game if there is no game on and try to show them the game, however a lot of them don't want to listen and charge into a tournament game and become disillusioned. most of us play to win and if you keep others down you have the best chance. it's a cutthroat game so learn the ropes before you start

i was dubious to join zogs game for same reason as others but did play in the end enjoyed the game and can tell you he is an honest player. welcome to pm

keep the free plot wherever you like but as far as im concerned the take away plot seems to happen a lot to 2nd place early in the game and 1st late in the game.
i have seen it happen many times to 2nd place in round 2 and from memory only ever seen anyone win once. it is devastating when early on and i personally think it should happen on or after round 4

the reason i see the need to change some, and only some, of the things as outlined is because if the new rating system is based on skill then skill has to be the predominant feature.
the changes suggested dramatically affect the skill of any player and this is the reason i suggested these.

the reason for my comments on changes if new system is adopted are

if we are to make the ranking system skill related then skill not luck has to be foremost and this is not always the case with plots sales on 1st round and losing plots early.
i really can't see the new system making a lot of difference but will cede to the majority

maybe the easy way is to divide players total score by the number of games played and this will give a average score and rank on this. every player will continue to try even when in last to keep their average up.( just another thought) and it did hurt as much as last time.

in the meantime i will just enjoy playing mule

after some thought on the matter (yes it hurt) i feel some changes need to be made if we change to this new ranking system, they are

1. all stats reset to 0 (except hosting reliability %)
2. no land auctions in round 1 ( more luck than skill to get one)
3. no land win/loss before round 4 (again luck not skill and can dramatically affect game outcome)

other than that i feel the game is as perfect as you can make it and thank all those involved for the great work you are doing.

ps. don't worry piete if i ever have the pleasure of playing you again i will get my woolly friends to double the lag you get lol

i have found my ranking drop from 1 to 5 with new system.
fair enough i suppose if this is the new system.
i will have trouble improving my ranking due to the time differences between me (nz) and other countries.
to play i need to play when i can and this tends to be out of sync with other top ranked players.
i am not to concerned because i have achieved what i set out to do initially which was to #1 enjoy playing mule,#2 play against real people. #3 play to the best of my ability

all i can say is thanks for making mule a game we can all enjoy and play against people from all over the world

i too have noticed 2nd place getting a lot of bonus's and 3rd and 4th nothing.
in fact 4th place seldom gets anything.it has happened in too many games for it to be a random occurrence.
