1  Planet Mule 1 / Planet M.U.L.E. 1 Discussion / LandruBOT is back up and running on: November 26, 2020, 15:07
LandruBOT is back up and running.  Seems like everyone was getting by without it, but if you need another bot to play on, it's fully functional again.  Thank you Chuckie Chuck for your expertise and tenacity!
2  Planet Mule 1 / Planet M.U.L.E. 1 Discussion / tite tracker available for download (PC version) on: October 17, 2019, 01:13
I finally packaged my tite tracker for PC, and also fixed a few bugs.  Let me know if you try it out, what you think, if you think it's helpful in finding tite.  If you come across any incorrectly resolved situations, please let me know and include a screencap.

3  Planet Mule 1 / Planet M.U.L.E. 1 Discussion / Feature request on: July 20, 2019, 05:26
I know this is probably a long shot, but the game logs do not show what tiles have been offered for auction.   The log files does not designate which tile was assayed, or where a meteor strikes.  Interestingly, it does say where radiation strikes.

I'm trying to write a simple program to parse out the log files into a kind of 'replay'.  I'd like to be able to follow the game while i'm waiting for it to finish.   Also, could the log file for the current running game live on the internet in an uncompressed format so it's easier to access while it's still running?

I understand that this game is probably not being actively developed anymore, but I thought I'd put that out there in case anyone is listening.  Also, the Wumpus is too easy to catch and it disrupts the game balance. In the C64 version, you could only catch it when it was visible, now it's almost a guarantee.
4  Planet Mule 1 / Computer A.I. / AlphaMule on: January 16, 2019, 04:21
There is a lot of news recently about AlphaGo and AlphaZero.  I've been reading a little about how they work, and it might be possible to create a learning AI that can play this game and defeat all humans.   It could potentially use the existing database of games to learn from initially.  The algorithms involved are not as complicated as it might seem, and it doesn't use tremendous amounts of processing power, although the more the better.

Anyway, I wonder if there is anyone on this forum that might be interested in talking about what it would take to create an AlphaMule?

Thanks!
6  Planet Mule 1 / Planet M.U.L.E. 1 Discussion / Feature Request: Music free waiting area by default on: October 09, 2016, 18:31
It's a significantly easier to wait for a game to start if there is no music in pre-game room.    That way, you can leave the sound up and go surf the web or cook some food or whatever without having to listen to the very fine mule theme song a million thousand times.    You can't simply mute it because the sound is the best way to signal people that the game is starting.    Please, to all bot-hosters, thank you for your efforts, without which i would not be able to enjoy this game, can you please set the music to off as default?

So i have a file called tite_tracker_app.
How do i launch it? Where does it need to be located on computer?

I think you can launch it form anywhere, but try from the root directory if you are having trouble.    It's Mac only, for OS 10.10 only (so far that's all it seems to work with).    if you double click it, what happens?
8  Planet Mule 1 / Planet M.U.L.E. 1 Discussion / Re: YET ANOTHER CRISTITE TRACKER on: January 23, 2016, 03:49
I know what you mean.   I had to press a button at work today!

Since you are saying Bravo, I'll take a bow!  Smiley      Your point about wanting to play the game without any help is fair.    To be fair, I did not set out to write this app because I thought 'the world needed another tite tracker', but rather because I am learning python and this was a good project to tie together the ideas from the class.    I had to use some sophisticated (to me) algorithms to calculate the plumes and I also learned how to use pygame and how to make a terminal app.   Although the app part was tough - its only for mac 10.10.    And I eventually wanted to port it over to an iDevice because I figure that would be a good skill to have, but it looks like that's going to have to wait for the next project.

I'm not sure how to interpret your first paragraph where you talk about poorly coded A.I.s?   You made it sound like the code gave you bad information and you lost the game.    If you find a bug (and I know there's a few big ones that I'm working on), if you find a bug please report it here and especially take a screen shot, or do what most people do and completely ignore it.

EDIT:   i linked to the wrong version.  this one is the most up to date...

does that mean you want to beta test it?

Try this link.   You have to click on the download ICON, not the filename.

Its zipped.    Mac OS 10.10 only.     I'm also still working on it, but feedback is appreciated, and comparison to existing tite trackers is also sought.

I'm working on an impementation - please check it out at the video below.    It's still a work in progress.  I have not gotten to use the other two existing trackers so I am not familiar with their features.   My understanding is that one of them can pull data right form the game, which would be nice, but I can't do that.    They also track other resources and plot ownership, which mine does not.    My understanding is that my program does more logic in resolving where the highs are than the other ones do - please confirm that or not for me.

the current version is not packaged into a downloadable app at this time.   when it is, it will only be available for OS 10.10 (Yosemite).    Sorry about that, my skills are limited.
12  M.U.L.E. Community / Website, Ranks & Forum / Colony Totals as well as weeks winner on: January 15, 2014, 18:25
I propose that in addition to tracking and displaying the weekly winners, the website should also display the colony high scores for the week, maybe the top 3 scores.   This might encourage the occasional cooperative game as people attempt to get the highest weekly colony total.

Might be a fun addition?
