1  Planet Mule 1 / Planet M.U.L.E. 1 Discussion / Re: NOOB issues on: May 04, 2017, 22:42
Sorry you encountered that dude, it is a paranoid bunch here.  There is a legit touch point here with regulars worried about veterans starting new accounts to pose as noobs, but it is easy enough to verify and new players should not be accosted as you have.  90% of players are OK to play with and will help new players, 10% get touchy if what you do potentially affects their chance at victory.  Four things to bear in mind in this crowd:

1) The game takes 90 minutes to play.  If you don't have time, don't play.
2) Don't quit if it can be avoided.  AI's change the game significantly and you can't add players mid-game.  Also, many players have waited an hour+ to be in a game without AI.
3) Always hit 'Space' at summary and production.  Keeps the game going.
4) If you need a break to pee or get a drink, ask in advance if this is OK.  Also, when returning, ask if everyone is ready so people don't miss turns.

Lastly, ask questions.  Games go smoother with knowledgeable players and there is a fair bit of metadata  to learn.  Have fun!

Thanks for the clarification J, thank you for the insight into MB's unique synaptic firings.

I agree, if this was 'refreshed' to the new platforms and maybe given a new feature or two, we could toss out some free marketing opps to the folks that remember MULE and maybe get some more players in the community?  In order for this to work however, there would have to be some agreement from existing members to be noob-friendly Smiley.

Apparently I am one if the 'faggots' MuleBalls is referring to, though I did not kick or vote to kick.  I mostly was quiet after round one because MB was flooding chat with insults and bogus game updates and advice.  I guess since I didn't speak out I am an accomplice and faggot.  IMHO, he stirred the pot and went to far, causing two players to administer some prairie justice.

I would imagine the hackers would make a duplicate of the java resource files before doing their voodoo, then  the only evidence is on the audit logs of that PC.  On the crystite topic, this game is trying to be as faithful to the original concept as possible, in in that concept there are fixed economic priniples at play (ecomomies of scale, specialization, etc).  Essentially, the more you do something, the better you get at it.  For example: My house does not sit on a gold vein area, but if I dig down 50 feet on my lot and sort it, I bet I find trace gold.  If I am skilled at extraction, I know even more techniques to detect and collect gold on any property and I have better success.  If I have more property to search more success.  Therefore I think the game has it right to a degree.

Is there any truth to players reading the code?  I have played games before where players predict the events that are going to happen with 99% certainty.  In those games there have been accusations about reading code (more than reading the game logs), but it only seems to be a few who have the goods to access and convert the data to useable info.  I use the seat-o-the-pants method myself...
