Title: The AIs retains their memories from past life.
Post by: Rogue Cat on May 21, 2010, 17:50
Tested in single player training 12 turns mode, unknown it it also happens in single player tournament mode, online modes, or single player training with a different number than 12 turns.

After finishing a single player training game, if you start another match without closing and re-opening the program, the AI seems to "continue" playing as if it were round 13 or something. You can see them grabing "unusual" plots in the map. Then you discover that they start exploiting crystite from the very first turn.

The AI remembers the assays from previous game, but revealing the current crystite ammount of the new map. In fact, each one of them grabs one high crystite plot from the very first round and mainly cares about exploiting crystite. It's quite funny watching them starve and lacking of energy while you can sell your food units for around $210 each one.

The AI should be "reset" somehow after finishing a training game. (Unknown if the same happens when playing in training with less than 12 turns.) Same goes for the music, it will continue playing the music of the "First Founder" screen when you start a new game. I guess that the game is not "reset" after winning the game, so the AI keeps playing like if next turns were part of the same game. As I said, unknown if the AI does the same in multiplayer mode, because of the lack of AI playing there.

* EDITED to correct "typos"...

So, you're saying that the computer will be smarter and give you more of a challenge if you play a 4 player AI game first? Cool.

Nope, just the opposite. They play in a lame way, because they just exploit crystite plots and run out of food and energy after a few rounds. I played two consecutive games with 3 AIs, the first game was the usual expected game, but the second one was terrible. Artificial Dumbness gets a new meaning with them. It's like if they thought they already had plots producing food and energy, or they kept part of it from the previous game.

I have run in to this problem too on local mode. They take and build on High crystal plots the very first turn.
