Title: 1.2.4 AI - Food hoarding Post by: kipley on April 27, 2010, 03:06 So the new AI does avoid a lot of the silliest mistakes of its predecessor, but it's not without its own quirks.
The biggest that I've noticed is its food habits. After a food shortage, it'll convert several of its plots over to produce food. So far, so good, as it's anticipating the rise in price of food. But then it often never sells it. It'll have (literally) dozens of excess food, and there are times when it either wants a ridiculous price for it (ridiculous because none of the human players have a shortage of food), and other times when it apparently won't sell for ANY price. Just for kicks, we ran the buy line up to over 400 for food one game, when none of us had a food shortage, and the AI had a ton of extra food, and he just sat there, as if to say "you can offer more than THAT"! So, needless to say, a lot of the AI's overproduction of food just gets spoiled. |
