Title: Land auction "bug" Post by: piete on February 07, 2010, 23:59 Hi! Sorry if this was already mentioned earlier but since it's still not fixed, will mention it:
In original land auction, when a plot is not sold the auction ends. Here it continues. So comparing to the original, it's a bug. Title: Re: Land auction "bug" Post by: Peter on February 11, 2010, 08:32 Yes that's true. In version 1.0 of Planet MULE the auction would stop with the first unsold land. We might revert back to that behavior.
Title: Re: Land auction "bug" Post by: piete on February 11, 2010, 11:26 Just to be clear, I didn't mean version 1.0 but the original C64 version (and surely Atari, though I didn't verify it).
So I hope this changes "might" from your reply to "will" ;) Title: Re: Land auction "bug" Post by: maskdbandt on February 11, 2010, 11:56 yeah that would be nice so someone couldn't wait for a better price if they were the only one with $ :)
Title: Re: Land auction "bug" Post by: C64 nostalgia on February 11, 2010, 14:40 I also support switching to the original C-64 MULE land auction rules -- no buyers for the first plot, no more plots offered.
Title: Re: Land auction "bug" Post by: mikman on February 13, 2010, 14:59 Didn't it used to say how many plots were up for auction right at the start i.e. "colony auctions off 2 plots of land" while the first one flashes on the screen. I think planet mule just says "Colony auctions off a plot of land" even though there may be more to follow. If nobody bought one, then all subsequent auctions were canceled.
Title: Re: Land auction "bug" Post by: piete on February 13, 2010, 16:16 Mikman, that's partly right, earlier versions declared the number of plots to be auctioned. Now it doesn't say the number. But if one plot is not sold and there were other plots to be sold that turn, Planetmule still continues the auction (which is not right). Of course sometimes the behaviour may seem "right", if the plot that didn't sell happened to be the last plot to be sold that round.
Title: Re: Land auction "bug" Post by: Intergalactic Mole on February 14, 2010, 03:32 I would consider this a bug as well.
Title: Re: Land auction "bug" Post by: Mega Byte on February 14, 2010, 17:06 I wouldn't call it a bug, just not "true to the original", which there are a few things still, and "true to original" is hard, because there were variations between the C-64 and Atari versions. In any case, this is one of the elements that does really bug me about the current version. Especially when it nearly halves the price of the next plot.
-S Title: Re: Land auction "bug" Post by: Peter on February 15, 2010, 14:24 I wouldn't say it's a bug, but the next version will change the behavior and stop auctioning plots if a plot is not bought. However, this doesn't affect plots sold by players.
