Title: When a host quits out
Post by: Bertoid on January 19, 2010, 14:47
I was playing in a game hosted by someone ranked very high (#5 at the time).  He had a glitch on his side and was afraid he wouldn't be able to win because he accidentally bought a plot of land for over $2000. He decided that his ranking worth more than the game, so he quit the gamem in round 10.  What's to stop every host from doing this when they feel they won't win?  Is there any sort of punishment or consequence?  The other players wasted over 45 minutes on this game

people have done that with me too... that's why i think they should get a loss for quitting the host game and the players in it should not be penalized... unfortunately their time is wasted though... that's one of the reasons i avoid playing one of the people (perhaps same one you are talking about) because if you could look at his list of games, he hosts every single time and abandons quite a few of them prior to end of game

Unless a lot more safeguards are put into the ranking system, and not just for what you are describing, it has no credibility.  Currently, anyone can easily cheat their way to #1.  For now, just keep track of who has done it, and dont play with them.
