Title: Still getting Graphics Driver error Post by: mrjax38 on December 23, 2009, 16:56 I just downloaded the latest version of your game and double checked my video drivers. I did find a new video driver and installed that as well.. Unfortunately I am still getting the "Failed to initialise LWJGL Display" error.
I have the following: Acer AO751 - Intel Atom 1.33Ghz - 2Gb memory - Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 500 - Driver 8.14.10.2019 dated 11/23/2009 Running Windows 7 Professional 32bit Title: Re: Still getting Graphics Driver error Post by: Peter on December 23, 2009, 18:16 It would be helpful if you could post your log found in data/log.txt. Do other games work on your computer? And in that case could you give an example of a game that works.
Title: Re: Still getting Graphics Driver error Post by: shinjikun34 on December 24, 2009, 05:58 I'm having the same issue
I have the following: Inspiron b130 - Intel Celeron R 1.6 ghz - 1Gb memory - Intel Mobile 915GM/gms,910gml Express chipset family - Driver 6.14.10.4609 dated on 6/6/2006 (i wish i was making that up)(that is the newest one dell offers) running windows 7 home 32bit I've been able to play world of warcraft on this laptop at 20 fps (when i turn off the second monitor) already tried turning off the monitor and running the game - it still gives the muleexception error Code: INFO [Properties.<init>] VERSION: 1.1.1 Title: Re: Still getting Graphics Driver error Post by: piete on December 24, 2009, 11:26 Hi! I had a black screen in the beginning, too. First of my abandons caused by technical problems (for me there are no other types, I'm no loser/quitter ;) happened when I started to play with another human player. I chatted with him and was wondering what to do next, he said "why don't you press J to join". I pressed, heard a sound and said "thanks, I didn't see that in the manual". Then I wondered again what to do, he said "press A for cpu players to join". I was getting really embarrassed for not reading the manuals properly. Then the sounds indicated that the game had started but my screen remained black, only then I realised that I had a problem.
Anyway, intel has a tool to update graphic drivers: http://www.intel.com/support/detect.htm Unfortunately it didn't work for me (it said that my computer (a Toshiba laptop) has modified drivers so it didn't want to take the risk updating them) but it may work for others. Then I went to Toshiba's pages (that are a lot messier than HP's that I've had more experience with) but I managed to find an updated graphic driver, installed it, rebooted and still got a black screen. But this time visit to the lobby (and/or switching to full screen by F5) helped and the game works, although I have to go back to the lobby every time I start a game in order to get the screen working. But even if your computer's manufacturer doesn't offer updated drivers, you might want to try to install the graphic card's manufacturer's drivers, although on your own risk... Title: Re: Still getting Graphics Driver error Post by: shinjikun34 on December 28, 2009, 00:29 so......
is anything being done to help with this issue? If the issue was just laziness and not wanting to update drivers I could see why this isn't being looked into but some of us can't afford a newer laptop that the manufacture still supports driver-wise. Is there anything we can do? Could someone at least post the generic "we're working on it" Title: Re: Still getting Graphics Driver error Post by: Tobias on December 28, 2009, 21:50 We're always working on improving compatibility with the Intel graphics chips, because that is the single most common thing keeping people from buying or Mad Skills Motocross game.
Intels drivers are horribly broken for OpenGL games, and have always been. In your cases it even crashes on initialization, so there is not much we can do. We'll check our init code, but the problem can most probably not be fixed. I'm sorry. Title: Re: Still getting Graphics Driver error Post by: piete on December 31, 2009, 22:07 Would the driver situation improve at all on the linux side? If yes, people could get for example Puppy Linux or something similar that they could run from USB if they don't want to install linux on their hard drive. In that case somebody experienced could make a how-to on getting Planetmule running on it.
