Title: Font is not consistent with the rest of the game artwork
Post by: cb951303 on December 22, 2009, 23:33
I love the pixel art type of artwork on planet mule but the font looks like plain sans.
It would be great to have a less round font.

Thanks

I gotta agree here, the 1.0 font was so much better than the current 1.1 generic one. And i cant see why you changed it.

Probably because people complained about it.

But they'll complain about anything. :p

Can a developer comment on this?
The font really stands out when compared to the game's artwork style.

BTW, I'm the OP, I changed my account.

If the game engine permits, there are lot of good candidates here: http://cooltext.com/Fonts-Pixel+or+Small
I'm pretty sure a lot of them have permitting licenses if you want to use...

some commercial ones here: http://www.ductype.com/dt.html

I am not font-nerd, but i have to admit that a good font is something memorable. Like the one from GTA, quake,etc...

A good font can do much good, and a bad font could do much evil, this is like everything else. having a neutral generic font is bad but at least is readable, could be a lesser evil. Maybe use a bitmap font with the font external, so some people can create "user made fonts", like.. he.. the  C64 font based on the original c64 font :)
