Title: No sound in the game at all Post by: Bartekmil on July 25, 2017, 16:53 The game seems to produce no sound at all, not in login screen, not in lobby, not even during the game itself
Title: Re: No sound in the game at all Post by: AsphodelSnape on October 02, 2017, 19:06 I am new to this game and have not played one yet. But when I try to join a training game I have the issue as well. No sound at all. Was there any fix to this?

Title: Re: No sound in the game at all Post by: motorman on November 03, 2017, 00:57 Try using the Windows (Vista or older) 37mb version.
Title: Re: No sound in the game at all Post by: Chuckie Chuck on November 26, 2017, 18:33 I just setup Mule on a new to me laptop and also found I had to use the older version, they didn't update the runtime code for the sound to be compatible with new Java apparently. Old one still works fine on newer systems.

The sound does not work in new java and their are other cantankerous issues. Just try the older one. It works in all versions of Windows from XP to 10.
Title: Re: No sound in the game at all Post by: PantherDave on April 26, 2020, 04:04 I have the same issue. Fortunately, you're right Chuckie Chuck! I downloaded the XP version and it works fine.

Is there any chance the Win10 version will be updated to fix the sound bug? Title: Re: No sound in the game at all Post by: Chuckie Chuck on November 27, 2020, 05:12 I'm am trying to get some support on this currently, but in the mean time, the Windows XP/Vista version works in 7/8/10 just fine. The game code is identical, the difference is the intergrated Java Runtime Enviroment. They imported the Runtime for Java 7 into the Mule Data Folder, but the Mule Code isn't fully compatible with Java 7, it was written for Java 6. That is genuinely the only difference between the XP/Vista version and the 7/8/10 version, one uses Java 6 and the other uses Java 7. It also messed up the keys for chat, so I tell people, just don't use the 7/8/10 version. The XP/Vista version is completely compatible with 7/8/10 with one exception, since the 2004 build of Windows 10 came out, it won't release the frame when you close the game and you have to open task manager to kill the Java Task. (Coding error in Mule that never effected anything until this Windows10 update. A fix is documented and it's another thing I am attempting to get support on. I don't have access to the code to fix it myself, and even if I did, it would take me hours to learn how they structured the code for Mule, I wasn't involved in writing it and I'm not a programmer, just a troubleshooter, I can diagnose broken code fairly well, but I can't write it from scratch.)
In anycase, I emailed Turborilla today, they wrote the game, but they are hands off now, they passed the rights to Blue Systems, unforunately Blue Systems has no direct method for end users to contact them, so I only seem to be able to get a message to them via Peter at Turborilla. He's the only one at Turborilla who even has access to contact them, none of his underlings do. Things my email addressed. The failed Windows 7/8/10 build, I requested they outright remove the download, it doesn't work right for anyone, no sound and the chat doesn't work right. The locked frame error in Windows 10 on exit, someone who has the code and knows the structure could fix this in 2 minutes. I already know what's missing in the code, Oracle has documented the issue recently and provided a fix for programmers to add to their programs. Mac compatibility: the last Mac operating system that could run mule is OSX Mojave, and that with a complicated convoluted process of disabling the built in java in Mac OSX and importing Java 6. We have a siginificant number of Mac based players, so this is a significant issue. |
