Title: YET ANOTHER CRISTITE TRACKER Post by: landru on January 18, 2016, 16:52 I'm working on an impementation - please check it out at the video below. It's still a work in progress. I have not gotten to use the other two existing trackers so I am not familiar with their features. My understanding is that one of them can pull data right form the game, which would be nice, but I can't do that. They also track other resources and plot ownership, which mine does not. My understanding is that my program does more logic in resolving where the highs are than the other ones do - please confirm that or not for me.
YOUTUBE DEMO https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XxyMQ8So_WI the current version is not packaged into a downloadable app at this time. when it is, it will only be available for OS 10.10 (Yosemite). Sorry about that, my skills are limited. Title: Re: YET ANOTHER CRISTITE TRACKER Post by: Luke Skywalker on January 19, 2016, 05:09 got a download yet?
Title: Re: YET ANOTHER CRISTITE TRACKER Post by: landru on January 19, 2016, 06:00 EDIT: i linked to the wrong version. this one is the most up to date...
https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B7MKTRgzEaZIZjVrUUxtNG41VFU/view?usp=sharing does that mean you want to beta test it? Try this link. You have to click on the download ICON, not the filename. https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B7MKTRgzEaZIcWVidjhOZXI3Vm8/view?usp=sharing Its zipped. Mac OS 10.10 only. I'm also still working on it, but feedback is appreciated, and comparison to existing tite trackers is also sought. Eugen Weber fan? That guy is the shit! Hutz Title: Re: YET ANOTHER CRISTITE TRACKER Post by: landru on January 19, 2016, 20:00 HUGE fan of the Eug! Especially the way he... rrrrrrrolls his rrrrrrrrrrr's. And his extremely dry sense of humor.

Title: Re: YET ANOTHER CRISTITE TRACKER Post by: jagov808 on January 23, 2016, 01:53 This is certainly the shot in the arm this game needed, another tite tracker.
Speaking for myself I prefer full automation, and love when the poorly coded game slips from my grasp and the AI takes over as I drift towards sweet surrender. It is very much like giving birth from what I understand. One has such high aspirations for one's bot. This tite tracker stuff is more of a sci fi thrill, I suppose it is the dream of every transhumanist to merge with machines to outperform mere mortals. One can't be expected to play a game on their own these days. That's uncivilized. When I go to a live casino for a game of poker, I bring along a hobo, so that he can push my chips in the middle for me. As a 21st century man I can't bring myself to play without a servant whether mechanical or human, its unseemly. Bravo to you sir! Next request is for tactical nukes to use whilst hunting wampi. I don't see why we must traverse across the map to catch this beast. Title: Re: YET ANOTHER CRISTITE TRACKER Post by: landru on January 23, 2016, 03:49 I know what you mean. I had to press a button at work today!
Since you are saying Bravo, I'll take a bow! :) Your point about wanting to play the game without any help is fair. To be fair, I did not set out to write this app because I thought 'the world needed another tite tracker', but rather because I am learning python and this was a good project to tie together the ideas from the class. I had to use some sophisticated (to me) algorithms to calculate the plumes and I also learned how to use pygame and how to make a terminal app. Although the app part was tough - its only for mac 10.10. And I eventually wanted to port it over to an iDevice because I figure that would be a good skill to have, but it looks like that's going to have to wait for the next project. I'm not sure how to interpret your first paragraph where you talk about poorly coded A.I.s? You made it sound like the code gave you bad information and you lost the game. If you find a bug (and I know there's a few big ones that I'm working on), if you find a bug please report it here and especially take a screen shot, or do what most people do and completely ignore it. Title: Re: YET ANOTHER CRISTITE TRACKER Post by: Luke Skywalker on January 23, 2016, 17:27 So i have a file called tite_tracker_app.
How do i launch it? Where does it need to be located on computer? Title: Re: YET ANOTHER CRISTITE TRACKER Post by: Chuckie Chuck on January 23, 2016, 20:18 Looks promising Landru. I'll keep watching for finished product to try. :) I still use Rogue Cats. Fully manual, but it is clean and works well as long as you stay focused.
I sent you a few personal messages about the bot also, but you never seems to get them. Title: Re: YET ANOTHER CRISTITE TRACKER Post by: jagov808 on January 23, 2016, 20:36 I know what you mean. Yes, I believe playing the game without any aids is more fun and even small aids gradually reduce our human capacity. I'm an anachronism and still like to drive manual cars and can somehow manage to keep it in the correct lane without a fancy lane departure system. I figured this was a practical exercise to develop your programming skills. On that front, I understand and am sincerely impressed with people that have that technical knowledge. On the poor code, I refer only to the fact that regardless of which computer, network or router I choose it is always a crapshoot whether I can finish a game. If I finish others drop out for technical reasons. If only there was some sort of way to stream the data better or allow a bot to take over for the 15 second 'blip' and then return control to the human player. I am a complete layman when it comes to coding so perhaps what seems easy to do with other modern software may be too much of challenge given the nature of this game without major reconstruction of the code. I know that many people would love that change though. I am sure if it was a serious undertaking many including myself would be happy to give up some cash to compensate someone for taking on that challenge. Title: Re: YET ANOTHER CRISTITE TRACKER Post by: Chuckie Chuck on January 23, 2016, 20:40 Jag, while you're busy tooting your horn, I drive 18 wheels, and capable of float shifting 18 gears without touching the clutch pedal. I still do tech work on the side, and maintain a network remotely, as well as CCMuleBot. I have much to much paper floating around in the truck to waste more on mule, on screen aids are very welcome. ;)

Title: Re: YET ANOTHER CRISTITE TRACKER Post by: landru on January 24, 2016, 03:19 So i have a file called tite_tracker_app. How do i launch it? Where does it need to be located on computer? I think you can launch it form anywhere, but try from the root directory if you are having trouble. It's Mac only, for OS 10.10 only (so far that's all it seems to work with). if you double click it, what happens? |
