Title: No way to play play multiple players on the same machine?
Post by: ryleyra on April 23, 2014, 15:20
I was happy to find a version of M.U.L.E. actually being developed with the help of the original designers, and really exited to get all my friends together who used to play and try out the new version. So I was disappointed to find that the game is so focused on online play. It's not that I don't mind the extra step of creating an account for everybody (or even creating multiple accounts myself) but making sure everyone has their own computer is a hassle.

I even thought that a two player option was possible, since I saw the secondary keys on that option screen. I could see the "Join" button adding multiple players in local mode, even if they were all auto selected as the human species.

Oh, well, I'm still happy to see a new version of M.U.L.E. And the graphic update is really cute.

I also wish for a hotseat version in the future.

It would be good as long as people playing on the same comp didn't work as a team. This is the issue I've heard the most of, on this topic.

While you can't have multiple players on one machine, you can still have multiple computers in one location, so a tourny in the house isn't impossible if you have more than one computer available.

You can even do lan party style.  You host a game, and the three other computers run local mode and manually join your IP address on the LAN (Assuming you all connected to the same Router)400

This set up would be extremely ideal even as compared to online mule because the lag would be non existent for four PCs on the same router in the same room.  It would be 5 to 15 ms.  Online Mule can be from 60 to 4000 ms.
Anything over 350 starts to feel unplayable.
