Title: "Real corporations don't SPAM on others' forums." Post by: Rogue Cat on July 24, 2011, 01:42 How about adoption this quote for counter-SPAMing them? If this continues like this, we might have this forum turned into the same SPAM nest that D2LoD has become. Suggestions for counter-SPAMming?

Yes, it gets a little tiresome to remove the spammers accounts, so to help I could give you moderation rights so you could help deleting and/or analyzing for counterspamming. Just tell me if you like to help. Title: Re: "Real corporations don't SPAM on others' forums." Post by: Rogue Cat on July 30, 2011, 21:03 Hello RougeCat, Yes, it gets a little tiresome to remove the spammers accounts, so to help I could give you moderation rights so you could help deleting and/or analyzing for counterspamming. Just tell me if you like to help. Sorry for the delay, but as you know my connection is weekends-only. I would be able to check it only from Friday to Sunday, so my moderation would be almost unnoticed. I doubt I can be of help that way. I mostly wanted to get advising/ideas to prevent it. Captchas often work for bots, and many of those looked like an automatic answer based on the thread content. How about adding a "captcha" before making a new posting? I've seen cases of SPAM flooding attacks in other forums that forced the admin to lock all new postings for several days until they cleared it all, because they kept bot-posting and the site was flooded in literally a few minutes. And the problem has been increasing, I fear this forum had to do the same. Title: Re: "Real corporations don't SPAM on others' forums." Title: Re: "Real corporations don't SPAM on others' forums." Post by: Rogue Cat on October 12, 2011, 07:18 Adding CAPTCHA is always preferred whenever it comes to a forum posting or an online response. Though there are a couple of algorithms for image recognition, but most of them are not capable to pass captcha. And bots for sure can not pass captcha. But still if there is a human bot (some one, who has hell lot of time and logs in and make spam/fake posts), we can not fight it. Thats why there are moderation processes in place.. ;) Great, they can't stop SPAMming even in a non-SPAM thread. Flooding the database with junk accounts and links in signatures. How much do they pay you for that? Get a real job or rent your own house and put advertising there. Parasiting others' websites is not a real job. Well, we're taken care of this a$$-clown... Title: Re: "Real corporations don't SPAM on others' forums." Post by: Rogue Cat on October 14, 2011, 22:08 I wonder if I missed an answer there. :P Thanks for the info.
