Did you look at the FAQ?  Important installation notes there.  Also the bugs forum has a lot of hints regarding graphics driver issues, which is the most common factor in the game failing to start.

In case you're using Windows:
You'll have to open the downloaded file and then drag the directory inside it to the place where you want the game to be installed. After that you open the folder you just dragged and double click the program "mule.exe".

If you have a different issue, please tell us, and we'll try to help you.

I followed the instructions above and receive the following message when attempting to open "mule.exe"

"Runtime Exception"
"com.turbolla.mule.MuleException: javax.imageio IIOException: Can't get input stream from URL"

My account is logged in while trying to execute "mule.exe"

Any suggestions?

Sounds like a firewall issue.  Check to make sure your firewall/anti-virus package is not blocking mule.
