Title: Re: M.U.L.E with Joystick ? Post by: Blitzen on September 22, 2010, 14:16 I have to say most of my Atari 800 / c64 buddies will never become very good at keyboard controls.
Its a great idea, its just that most modern PC usb joysticks can do keyboard emulation and be programmed to suit this game trivially already. So long as it you don't have to have an exact c64 / atari controller, a usb game pad from Logitech should be able to do it. I don't know of anyone who makes "joysticks" for PCs, but I haven't looked much... and I have to say most of my buddies would never become very good with a d-pad either. I grew up on a keyboard, joysticks and d-pads so all I dread are the num-chuck style things and the analogue thumb sticks. Title: Re: M.U.L.E with Joystick ? Post by: MuleyMan on September 23, 2010, 14:18 I used my Nyko and 360 controllers before with some success.
Was able to do better with keyboard. I looked for a usb interface for atari joysticks with no success. I did find modded atari sticks with built in usb for $16 and up online. If anyone finds a usb interface for atari joysticks, please let me know. Title: Re: M.U.L.E with Joystick ? Post by: Blitzen on September 24, 2010, 09:30 Hey MuleyMan do you have one of those Atari sticks and need the driver or are just suspicious cause you don't see any drivers?
The guy at this link seems to discuss that and says that he uses the "HID" standard to tell the PC what the device is... kinda like a mouse works without disks (ya throw that Logitech disc out). http://www.raphnet.net/electronique/atari_usb/index_en.php Maybe he is setting it up to say "I'm a keyboard" and when I press up I say "some letter" and down "some other letter" etc... in which case you figure out which letter is which and you setup PM to use those keys... If those things work I may need to buy some for my buddies and I. |
